I'm glad I finally looked up what a Blend door is and I'm really sad to hear that soooo many others are suffering from the same issue. Ours went out on Feb 9th. I also heard that GM recalled 2009 Chevy Malibu's for HVAC defects in order to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 103. Wouldn't the Blend door problem present the same non-compliance?

And add yet another 06 Equinox to the list. My heater also doesn't work and my warranty just expired.

I agree, they need to do a recall.

My 2006 Equinox is having the same problems, I just got off the phone with the Customer group at Chev/GM they told me I can't believe everything I read on the internet..You that was some BS, to many people with the same issue, but still as of today there is no recalls for the problem and this could cost me $1200, or $800, I'm just afraid that is I don't use the dealer, I will have no recourse if my SUV is not put back together correctly. So how do we get GM to give us a recall? I'm open to suggestions. Thanks

06 Equinox, heater blend door broke, $1000 to fix. Called GM, no relief on costs. It looks like this is a problem that GM is ignoring.

I guess I'm in for $1,000 repair bill as my "'06 Equinoz started blowing cold air. I agree with Larry, this is a safety issue.

Does anyone know what the problem could be? The a/c works fine.
I have a 2006 Chevy Equinox that the heater will only blow cold air. Took it to a mechanic and it was a broken Air Temp Blend Door. The part is only $65 but the labor is $600. Because they have to remove the whole system to replace the broken door.
Air conditioner works fine. The mechanic said that the part should have not broken. By reading everyone's comments, yes there needs to be a recall.

What would it take to have them recall? How do we notify the chevrolet company?

Mine is blowing cold air too. Warranty expired. Haven't taken it in yet, but I think I already see what the problem is. I really can't believe I need to have this kind of repair after less than three years of owning it. Definitely is a safety issue and I have to drive two small children around in it. Total BS.

add me to the list. just driving and suddenly heater started blowing cold air. we need to file a complaints with the ftc so that we dont have to incur these expenses. obviously there is a big problem and if gm cant help, we need to go over their heads. this is not fair. good luck in getting gm to assist. been down that road before. we need to demand a recall.

Add my '06 to the list too. Mine is only blowing cold air--but the A/C works fine.
I am waiting for them to tell me that that is exactly what is wrong with it and how much it is going to cost to fix it.

My heater went out in my equinox and only blowing cold air and I have a 5 month old. That shouldn't have happened in a car that's almost brand new!!!!!!!!!!

I spoke to Chevrolet/GM today and they said that they will not offer assistance because there is no recall at this time...Hello how many people have to complain before you do something? I will never buy their products again. Seriously, does anyone have any suggestions to get this to the next level? I am really frustrated and this is unacceptable.

Same problem. Actuator works but door appears to be broken (this is actually a pretty simple test that an average home mechanic can do--and it may save you >$120 on buying an actuator). Will attempt to repair the door myself. Anyone know the part # for the door? Also, any schematics on removal would be much appreciated since it appears that a manual hasn't been released yet for this model.
