Does anyone know what the problem could be? The a/c works fine.

The heater core is probably shot, same thing happened on my 05, its costly to have it done at a dealer, and you gotta be really mechanically inclined to do it yourself because you have to pull half of the dash apart.

I had the same problem with my 06, along with a bunch of other problems. I raised cain with GM and they fixed the heater issue by replacing a defective Door valve module actuator. They had to take the dash out etc., now I have all kinds of valve noise and the car isn't running well. They also had to replace a faulty relay switch for my daytime running lights, they have a bullitin out on this. Hope this helps

Hi, I was wondering how much did it cost to fix? Just curious, my 2007 is having the same problem and I was wondering how much I needed to save up..just a ballpark figure. Thanks!!:)

I just took my 06 Equinox in today...$100 to diagnose the problem and at least $850.00 to fix it.

I'm on my third heater core. 2005 Equinox with less than 30,000 miles. I have one more year of warranty. I registered a complaint with Chevy to get my warranty extended - waiting decision. I'm not confident that this heater core will last more than 2 years. Without warranty, this job would have cost more than $700.

Just had my 2006 Equinox in for diagnostic check and the estimate is $1325.00 it is the Air Temperature Blend Door assembly has broken and is not allowing the flow of hot air. Apparently this is a problem my dealer has seen 3 in the last month. Major problem and GM needs to recall.

My 2006 Equinox Air temperture blend door assembly broke and it costed me $89.00 to get the diagnostic done and would cost $1005.00 to get fixed so I now have my SUV in a thousand pieces. Thanks Chevrolet you really do need to recall this problem it is costing us a lot of money.

My 2006 Chevrolet Equinox is sitting at the dealership as I write this. I was told that it is a broken Air Temperature Blend Door Assembly. They said it will cost $850.00 to fix it but that they can't get the part because Chevrolet is "redesigning" it. They said I am number 300 on the list to get the part when comes available but they have no idea of when that will be. It's not covered under a recall because they claim it's not a safety item. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't visibility a safety concern? Without a working heater I have no way to clear the ice and fog from my windshield while I'm driving in the winter.

Hey General Motors here's a novel idea
for ya; Build a quality product that doesn't break down constantly and people will line up to buy it. Then maybe you wouldn't need billions of dollars in governmnet bailout money!

I also have a 2006 Chevy Equinox with a broken blend door. Mine is also out of warranty. I have also had the intake gaskets replaced (under warranty) and the starter (about a month out of warranty), not to mention the radio buttons on the steering wheel stopped working too. I think this purchase was a mistake!!!!!!

Add another 06 to the list. I haven't ventured into the chevy place, yet. That is on my list of things to do this week. Judging by all the great feedback you guys have on your problems, I can definately say that I am dreading it. Wish me luck!!!!

I have an 06 Equinox with the same problem. The actuator is out of calibration and the blend door is broken. They said they had to strip my car down to the firewall to fix it. I luckily got a GMAC extended warranty and this repair is covered. The service guy said it would be a $1,000 repair if I didn't have the warranty. God, I hope they put it back together correctly.
