Ok guys, you’re now manufacturing competitive vehicles with a leaner assemble capacity. Note to GM and Company – YOU NEED to UP CAPACITY and fast. Elevate your days in the field and do not starve your dealers.

Still don't know why one would buy a Camaro over a Mustang. The Mustang is a leaner, quicker and better handling car than the Camaro.

I guess if you're into making pigs fly you'd buy one. If you really wanna see a pig fly, buy a Challenger. Haha...

I think the Camaro and Mustang are both competitive players.

Ford’s Mustang has a new and improved powertrain in the 11 model. I’m curious to see how it plays when all the 10’s are gone. I know Ford is annoyed as hell that the market they had all to themselves a few years back is under attack. Competition is good for the consumer.

I don't know why you say Ford is annoyed as hell. GM had to back out because their Camaro/Trans Am wasn't able to compete.

Now the Camaro despite it's hot sales is really only competition to Ford's Mustang because it's new. Not because of its performance vs. the Mustang.

A few years ago Mustang was the only player in the field. Now they are in competition. When GM dropped the Camaro / TA, the competition was gone, it was there playground. IMO the Camaro is sexy as hell but it has a cheesy interior. Why go retro on the interior and futuristic with the body? I still await the Z28. Regardless, there is competition.

The interior of the Camaro is ridiculous at best, but the exterior is nice. Except for the rear at the bottom. They need to bring the rear skirt down a little. You can see too much of the mufflers. All that needs to be showing are the exhaust tips. Nothing more.

I agree that there is competition. There was competition when Dodge brought out the Challenger also. It's back to a 3 automaker pony car war. Too bad Dodge is in the rear view mirrors of the Camaro and Mustang. If Dodge could just shave off 700lbs. It would be more of a contender.

Make that just 500lbs. for the Challenger.

What it's going to boil down to is how well the V6 versions of these cars sell since V6's make up the bulk of the sales. Both the Camaro and Mustang have 300+hp and the Mustang can achieve 30 or 31 mpg on the highway. If you're getting a Challenger you might as well get at least the R/T because its fuel economoy is almost identical to the V6 and at least you get better performance numbers.

For me the Challenger is not a bad looking car it is just too big. As someone said about the Challenger, "it wins hearts, not races".

Growing up I always loved the Camaro's over the Mustang especially in the mid-90's when GM had the 305hp Camaro SS in red with the ram air hood. My friend had one and we would lay the smack down on any stock Mustang V8. Ahhh...those were the days. A year out of the military, a year before going to college and super cheap gas.

Now I prefer the Mustang over the Camaro. Not by a lot, but enough where the 90's me would beat the crap out of today's me. haha...

GM should increase inventory.

Wow, still at 34% fleet sales. So much for those claims that they were reducing fleet.

In any event, GM might as well keep inventory tight so they can get their transaction prices up and reduce their incentive spending to below its competitors.

Toyota lost major fleet accounts as a result of its recall debacle. Major corporations don’t need the liability that could come with a Toyota. US makers seized those accounts. These are good sales.

Although low stock is bad, it is a good sign in other ways. It shows people are coming back to GM and Ford, something a lot of pundits a few years ago predicted would not happen. And, many figured GM would never gain sales after the bankruptcy, but that's proving unfounded as well.

I could skew GM's numbers the other way, but why start another argument that is currently happening on 85,000 other automotive threads on Topix.

All in all I think they’re performing well considering the circumstances. Four gone was a tremendous hit.

I wonder what the 1.5 million vehicle recall will do for inventory?

GM is going to unplug the feature? Is GM conceding that it can't fix the problem? Are they unplugging the wiring harness on the Cobalt power steering pumps too?
