My 05 Nox makes a grinding noise when in reverse. It sounds like I am dragging a metal garbage can. It doesn't do it 100% of the time. It started after I pulled a trailer.

I've already had several problems with my Nox--the worst so far being the a/c blows hot air. It's been averaging 106 degrees here in TX for the past couple of wks so it's pure HELL! But something new happened this wk/end--I noticed that the driver side back floorboard was soaking wet!! There was nothing spilled or anyone even in the car. It was only that one side also. It stretched up under the driver seat some also. Any ideas on where this could have come from? I assumed it was water b/c there was no smell to it other than the stink caused by it being wet while so hot outside with no ventilation.

We have a 2005 Equinox and we've had the knocking grinding noise when turning and dealership said it was the clutch plates binding together and fixed it and no problems since. Well besides the recent musty smell and we too have found a leak in our spare tire compartment! UGH!!

Wow. lots of complaints. Want to hear something weird? I've never had any mechanical trouble with mine. Only problem is that the console paint is wearing off the interior.
Same here not one problem but I change the radio station too much!! I have had my 05 since 05 and it has 54,000 miles on it. I can't wait to upgrade to a new model next year.

Had brakes replaced in January-38K on them. Already grinding again! Major rust in passenger rear fender well and driver rear door sill. Not "rust through" so no covered by warranty-which expired last year anyway. Could pull key out of igniton while driving down road. Dealer cut new keys-fixed the problem. Have never needed this done for any other car I've owned! Does anyone know why a new key for a 2005 'Nox costs $30.78 + 1/2 labor to program. They only replaced key, not the fob.

And now the ignition often sticks in off position. Have to violently shake steering wheel and/or gear shift to get it to unlock. Oh boy-here we go! Am I about to start buying a new car one piece at a time (sort of like Radar in the MASH in which he mails a Jeep home-1 piece at a time)

at 64k miles battery has weaked on a 2005 bought in 04, one of the first. I also have a leak in the windshield seal, water got into the wire harness on drivers side behind plastic panel causeing car to act very messed up. Will need to repair/replace windshield soon. Tires have gone bald at 30K miles I am overdue. Transmission handle lock button acts up now and again. Overall not to many problems though the last 4 months have had the majority of issues creep up. Probably going to look at Hybrid next Ford's looks intriging

I have an 05 nox with alittle over 51,000 miles on it. Only problem so far is the starter likes to run on. Doesnt do it alot so my guess is the starter relay. I also have the poping noise and i was told it was a bad shock tower bushing. Also ive been told the the wheel bearings in the front arent very good and when they wear out they grind. The bushings in the rest of the front end components are probably just as weak which would explain noises and front end vibration hope this helps.

I am sitting in the Chevy dealership right now.
(Bruce Lowrie Chevrolet in Fort worth.) I have a Chevy Equinox that leaks water into the spare tire compartment every time it rains. INSANE!
I'm hoping they will help me out since it is a manufacturer's defect, but they said they will have to charge me just to look at it. I know what the problem is. I saw in a post somewhere that there was talk of a lawsuit. If that happens then someone email me.

I have a 06 Equinox with 31k miles and I've had the strange knocking noise (Knock-Knock-Knock) since day one that sounds like it comes from the back. I've always mensioned it to the dealership when I get oil changes and he just says "Oh your not the first Equinox owner thats mensioned a strange knocking noise" AGHH! It was just in the shop for a small exhaust leak and I asked AGAIN for them to find out what the knocking noise is. He said he drove it for 20 miles and couldn't make it do the noise (of course). So frustrated because the original warranty is almost up. I have an extended but you know how that goes with if they'll cover anything or not. So reading all these posts and numerous people having the same knocking noise it looks like it could be the brake pads, rear clutch wheel (?), solenoid for the canister purge (?) or the drive shaft needs to be replaced?!?! Jesus that's a lot of possibilities. I'm going to write these down and take it to the dealership next oil change and ask him if any could be a possiblity. It even did the noise this morning on my way to work. My car runs great but it's just annoying as hell.

I have an 05 Equinox with 67K and I have a love hate relationship with it. In the early days I had many problem you have mentioned the failure to start, feeling like its about to die out, computer and breaking issues. Anyway, after taking it to the dealership many unsuccessful times I just said forget it I will wait for the next problem and then trade it in and it hasn't had a problem since. So maybe this is a car that gets better with time but I just purchased a new car and kept the Equinox because it had been a faithful friend and that is hard to find in a car.

I just got back from the dealer with my '05 Equinox and complained of the "knocking" noise coming from the rear. The GM certified tech drove the vehicle and did hear the noise. He explained that it appears to be "normal" and that it is caused by the Evaporation Vent Solenoid cycling.

I also complained of not starting on the first try about 20% of the time. The tech could not duplicate and suspects the problem due to carbon buildup on the throttle body and injectors. The tech suggested an air/fuel induction service for $110, but I declined and am going to try a $4 bottle of fuel injector cleaner.

I've current have a equinox in which just came out of warranty. I brought it used myself. I'm also hearing a knocking under the front end of the car. I was told its probably the flywheel. The Flywheel cost about $395 however the totally cost to put it in is about $1500. I so much better to have everything done away from the dealer ship. I've heard that there is an updated flywheel from one source. Sources claim that its a constant issue with GM model car. GO JAPANESE!!!!!
