It must be the feds using our stimulus "bonanza" bucks to replace their fleet vehicles. I don't know of anyone else foolish enough to buy post-bailout GM products.

I won't buy a GM or Chrysler product again. They took the taxpayer dollars to pay business bills. How is that any different than Micky D's sending a bill to the goverment to pay the bread company for buns? We live (in what i thought was) a Capitalist society. yes I know it cost a ton of money to operate a worldwide car company. but goverment dollars shouldn't go into a business unless we as a taxpayer are getting a service or product(like a truck or something repaired).

Why not start building cars Americans actually want to buy and make them last more than 50,000 miles before their first major repair bill?

I found it interesting that The Dispatch reported yesterday in the Insight section the heading "Are Americans Spurning Cars?". They reported that last year the "U.S. car fleet dropped by 4 million vehicles". Makes you wonder if they have learned anything at GM.

The new Buick LaCrosse is an impressive car, I can see why demand is so high. Hopefully that level of design and engineering quality will trickle down to more entry level cars from GM. Maybe more factories will open because people will want their cars, not just to support American jobs, but because they are actually good for a change!

Well, this is good news but they should consider just bringing more people back from layoffs.

If they try to run the lines too fast you get serious quality control problems, exactly like what happened with the Vega. The Vega got so popular that they sped up the line and ruined it with a high defect count. My Uncle used to make them at Lordstown and he would tell stories about it and I still remember them.

So, are you going to stop buying anything made with corn or soy since ADM gets billions in subisdies? Are you going to stop buying gasoline, sine the oil companies got $15 billion in subsidies? Are you going to stop buying sugar? Sugar gets more subsidies than just about any other food crop.

Face it, we live in a socialist country, but it's mostly corporate socialism.
