I bought a 2012 and am having starting problems as well. Just found this forum and am a little depressed to say the least. I'll be making a phone call to the dealer on Monday.

Okay all, When will enough be enough??!! Is there nobody amoung us that has a friend or relative that is an attorney that would be willing to take on a class action suit? Hate to say it, but unless someone truly knows the person, some attorneys will take cases, drag it along for months/years just to soak money from clients, and client gets little/nothing in return. Must remember, General Motors is a large entity, and we, as taxpayers have funded the legal representatives that will fight against us, now that GM has had bailout from government. Gee, wonder why such financial woes exist for them with such quality products and quick repairs as can be proven with all the letters in this site??!! Once more, tax dollars used against the taxpayers!!

I bought my Equinox brand new in May 2005. The problems were almost immediately. Having trouble starting the vehicle. I've notice it would happen most, either when its very hot outside and/or when its very cold outside. My CD-player went out on me twice since having this lemon of a vehicle. I finally just bought a radio & had it installed. The interior is the worst I have come across yet. You can spill just a little bit of water on it, but you would think I wasted a cup of coffee or soda. The paint has chipped around the radio. The front rotors, well I'm a frequent flyer to have them replaced. No, I do not break hard, but was told by the mechanic, he has replaced a lot of rotors on this particular model A LOT. The fuel pump has gone out on it twice since having the car. Of course my vehicle is no longer under warranty & hasn't been for a while. The problem now, as of today, the A/C unit is shot & needs replacement. I would not recommend this year, make, & model, not even to the devil himself. Entirely to many problems, too many costly problems, especially if the warranty has expired.

Isn't it amazing that Gn. Motors came to be in such bad shape when they build such quality vehicles?? Something is wrong with my connection to this site, so will try to post later. Everyone stay cool!!!!

I bought a P/T Cruiser new off the lot, and it has just as many problems as my Equinox, so chances are, the people staring at you when yours won't start probably: 1) have some piece of dung themselves, 2)Have family member/close friend with vehicle that is just as bad, or 3) wish they could afford a car at all. I hate when it happens, but being embarrased helps nothing!

Yes Ron it IS TIME to find an attorny and go class action. It is getting really obvious we are all having that start, stall, electrical thing going on. When my call originally stalled on busy I10 going into Phoenix at night, it was not fun and NOT FUNNY. Were do we start. tell what next. I'm ready to Lawyer up.

My Equinox-has become a pain in the mufller.
The ignition key get locked in the turning to start. Sometimes it takes me 15-30 minutes and that is asafety issue for me. Otherwise, once it works I have no problems.

I, bought my 05 equinox in 07. The problem is with mine about dragging but not starting fully its quite embarrassing when it happens in a parking lot and I get looks from others, like, get that car fixed, mechanics tell me it is the starter, but after reading this forum, I think I will take it to a mechanic and see if they can diagnose the problem! I love my SUV and dont want any more problems!

This was happening to me, then I switched keys, I was given 2 when I bought the car, the second key has not had the same problem, maybe it will work for you!

I've had the same issue and the fix seems to simply give it a little gas and it starts right up. Of course they couldn't duplicate the problem at the shop & the "trick" took me 5 years to figure out.

Equinox stalled on Labor Day in the middle of a very busy intersection with my wife and 2 year old. A police officer helped be out of the street, but two days later the truck still sits in my driveway and will not start. I have to take it to my mechanic today or tomorrow, but I am afraid of the repair bill after reading all of the posts. I just replaced the cooling fan assembly which was not too bad until I had to go to the dealship to get two connector wires at the tune of $100 each!. I have a Malibu with the check engine light on now. I was going to take it to the shop on yesterday. I am through with Chrysler after my Sebring nightmares and now I think I am doen with Chevy.

I have an 05 equinox. I just bought it this year and it does the same thing and drags and doesn't want to start half the time, it is very embarrassing. When I take it to the mechanic they say it's fine. my husband noticed that it looks like oil is mixed with the coolant. does anyone know what this problem is. I think I blew a head gasket but I'm not overheating help!!!!

I too like the others have this problem, I bought this car for my wife, she drove it like that for 3 years, the trick is to give it a little gas to start, everytime it happens she just says her car is pms'ing again happens about once a month

Had the same problem and my mechanic told me it was the starter switch that needed to be changed, on this model and on GMC models also, then it started to stop running when I put the brakes on at a stop light or pulling into a parking spot, just quite no light on the panel came on, you would have to put it into park, turn it completely off and then it would crank. Well he cleaned the throttle body (has to do with the gas flow) now it runs like a top, but it still hard to crank so now a new starter switch!

Ive had my 06 for a week it has 60k on it and every 4 or 5 starts it does it but I found a trick that works so far. B4 I shut it off if I bump the gas a little ( slight rev ) it starts every time. Try it and c if it works with you let me now

Hi, i have a 2006 nox, i just recently bought it with 36k on it. everything was great on the way home.... next day the check engine light came on... took it to the local shop to read the codes.... said it was a theft sensor problem..... then as he was backing out the abs and brake light came on. Call the guy we bought it from and he came and picked it up and took it to his guy.....his codes were the throttle body..... so they cleaned that.... next day still same problem...5 to 15 tries to start.
next day took it to a GM dealership and after waiting 2 hours for them to check the codes they said the throttle body was bad and needed to be replaced.... ok $500 bucks.....
Next day same thing, took it back to the GM dealership and after another 2 hours it ended up being the MAIN ENGINE RELAY....Problem fixed..... Of course the throttle body was never bad but they wont admit that..... I would suggest checking the MAIN ENGINE RELAY first if you are having starting problems...simple and cheap fix.

First thing you need to check is the throttle body, take off the air filter assembly and see if the throttle body is slightly open while the engine if off. if so then it is for sure the main engine relay.
