JoAnne and Faith,

Finally heard from the GM man and he feels that since my car isn't under warranty I should pay 25% of the cost to have it repaired and they'll pay the rest. This is to have the spots painted that the paint peeled from. Like I had something to do with the paint peeling on their defective product. Think I'll get it painted and trade it into them for a used car that is anything but GM. You know I don't think any of their warranty covers paint??? I mis-quoted when I said I have a 2088 Equinox, it's a 2008. Good luck on getting repairs, I'm still trying.

How crazy!!! I am still trying to get something done too. In the meantime it continues to peel. Now I have to figure out how to protect it from rusting. So frustrating. No more GM for me either!!

I have an 08 Equinox and about a year and a half ago it started to look like orange peel on the left rear panel. Then it started on the right rear panel. We had a cold snap about a month ago and when I came out in the morning the paint looked like it burst open on the left side. It was windy that day and when I came out of work that day I had pieces of paint all over. Almost the entire piece between the middle window and the left rear window the paint had come off. Then on Feb 5th we had another cold snap and the right side started to peel off. Now the right side between the middle and back window the paint is almost completely off. Now it's starting down by the rear tires on each side. We took it to a Chevy dealership before the right side started to peal to have it analyzed. They put a piece of tape on the paint and ripped it of to see what would happen . Two small pieces of paint came off. This clearly indicates to me that there is some kind of defect with the paint job. Either; a sealant was not put on properly or something. This should not have happened. GM does not want to pay for the two panels to be repainted. I am really upset. I've lost almost all respect for GM. Makes me want to sell the vehicle and buy a Ford pickup . I like the style of the Ford pickup. Something to think about though.

And on the passenger side it's bubbling up in the same spot. The dealership tells me it's my problem not there's. What can be done?
I am having the exact same problem. It looks so bad and I have been told the same thing. I have contacted GM directly as well as the dealership. I purchased new and still making payments. It just isn't right.

I have an '06 Pontiac Torrent which I bought used 3 years ago. My daughter has been driving the car for the last year and I just noticed paint peeling off of the top of the rear fenders, credit card sized chunks of paint are missing.

I have the same issue on my 2007 Equinox. Paint is coming off above rear driver wheel well. A 1"x1" piece at first, right down to the metal, but more is coming off. No damage to the area at all. Any help or luck on GM's part to take care of what is clearly a wide spread issue?

I have a white Chevy equinox and the paint started peeling off the back in the same two places on each side. Dealer blew me off and said a chemical must have splashed on it while driving. So ridiculous. Will never buy from them agin.

I have an 08 Equinox and the paint is peeling and there are several orange peel areas. GM tells me this isn't covered because the car is out of warranty even though I have a 100,000 mile corrosion warranty. I have always owned GM but certainly won't consider another.

I have a 2008 charcoal grey Equinox. I woke up this morning and the paint on the back driver-door is peeling off in chunks. I hate that this is happening but I'm not the only one apparently!

Hey Matt. Any idea when GM-Canada might recall the 2005 Equinox for the PCM issue. My car is horrible on gas and sometimes it doesn't want to start without putting my foot on the gas pedal. I have talked to a local GM dealership in the US to see what it would cost to do this on my own. The cost is $414 for the PCM and $135 for programming and labor. The cost would be much higher if done in Canada. Thanks.
I had purchased a 2007 Chevrolet equinox less than a year ago at a Chevrolet dealer in moncton new brunswhick the car was mint only had 60,000 km on it last month the paint starting too peal off the vehicle on all wheel wells rear quarter panne land rear hatch I am not very happy at this time with gm they say nothing can be done I have had gms all my life and this is the first problem I had like this May be my last gm no help whatsoever and even body shops say that it is a manufacturer issue is there anything that can be done I will be contacting gm canada if I can't get this rectified not very happy in the least with gm dealers on this issue please help. I have a 2005 Chev Equinox and I have the same paint peeling issue around the wheel wells. GM must do something about this issue or it will lose alot of loyal customers.

I have the same problem with my black 2009 sports equinox. We should all get together... obviously there's something wrong and the factory should take it seriously.

2005 Black Equinox paint peeling around wheel well, just started this spring also back door driver side inside when you open the door. Is there any recourse with GM regarding this or are they just not interested, it's driver fault. I now have noticed many others since this has happened to me.

Has anyone had problems with their paint peeling? My paint is falling off on my wheel wells, bottom of passenger front door, below the back window and some random places. I took it to a body guy today and said he has never seen paint peel like this on a 6 yr old car.
I have a 2010 Equinox and the paint started peeling of on the wheel wells plus rust on the bottom or the front doors. They said GM warranty for paint is 3 years. Can we start a petition and make some noise. Please let me know
