I have a 2005 Chevy Equinox painted laser blue metallic which also has paint falling off of it in various places. I've been told if you go to the dealer and raise all kinds of cain they will eventually give in and paint it for you, but the last time I went to the dealer for daytime running lights not working they said it was a different set of bulbs and needed replaced, I told them it was either the high beams or low ran at half power and they told me I was wrong to blow me off, is this how they are trained to treat people ? probably my last GM vehicle I'll ever own.

I have an 08 Equinox and the paint is peeling and there are several orange peel areas. GM tells me this isn't covered because the car is out of warranty even though I have a 100,000 mile corrosion warranty. I have always owned GM but certainly won't consider another.

2005 all of the same issues everyone here is having. Paint is peeling, gas mileage, hitting the pedal to start, and buying Struts with every tire change it seems like. This is ridiculous. I will make a formal complaint to Chevy but i want to have specific dates on my continuous repairs.

I just recently had a month of conversation with GM customer service specialist about my paint pealing, only to be told that would fall under the 36mth/36 mi warranty. Paint is pealing near the rear passenger window. They indicated that there was no rust through. I have a 2008 Equinox manufactured in Canada with 52,000 miles. Vehicle was brought to local GM dealer and ironically, someone else had brought their (out of warranty )vehicle there 2 days ago with the same problem. Family and myself have owned GM vehicles before, never having such a problem. Very disappointed that I will now have to foot a paint job bill!!!!

I have a black "05 Equinox and my paint is peeling around the wheel wells, rear doors and on the back under the window. I took it to a bodyshop and they couldn't believe that it was peeling that bad. I've also been experiencing real crappy gas mileage. I've replaced everything you can think of except the fuel filter, that's next on the list. I wish GM would open their eyes and realize they have a serious problem with the Equinox.
I own a 2005 Black chevy equinox I have 111,000 miles on it and I love the car I have 20inch rims sharp looking vehicle except that the paint is starting to flake away just around the rear wheel wells my sister has a 2006 chevy equinox and doesn't have this problem. I want to get it repainted just afraid what the cost will be.

Wow! I have had all the above problems w my Black '06 equinox! The paint is peeling in the most random spots, under both side mirrors, above both wheel wells. It also will not start unless I step on the gas! I can't believe I am reading all of these comments. GM needs to do something about this.. Clearly it is big problem w this model.
I will be writing to GM right now. I suggest everyone do the same and maybe we can get something done about this!

I also have an '05 and paint is horrible! Above both rear wheel wells, under the side mirrors, the doors and under the rear windshield wiper. I also have had to deal with the rear hub assemblies and the ABS going off ever single time you touched the brakes. Oh, and lets not forget having to hit the gas pedal to start.... It's amazing how we pay so much money for vehicles just to get this crap. Never buying GM again... such a disappointment.

I also have the same issues with my white 06 Equinox. Paint has been flaking off everywhere. It looks like their painting process didn't adhere properly and now all of the owners are stuck with relatively newer vehicles that look like crap. I also have the lower rocker panels rusting from the inside out. Since that is a main piece for the structure of the vehicle, I am very concerned if I am ever in an accident. This is definitely my last general motors vehicle!

I have a 2088 Equinox that the paint is peeling off of daily above the back passenger door on the drivers side. You can see where it's going to continue to peel down further. And on the passenger side it's bubbling up in the same spot. The dealership tells me it's my problem not there's. What can be done?

I have a 2011 Equinox here. Clearcoat is peeled all over hood. No peeling anywhere else. Vehicle is garaged and has only 19,000 miles. Has there been a recall yet?

I have a '05 Equinox ,with 22045 miles. I bought it brand new in '05. I have had it aligned several times, had the rotors replaced, brakes replaced twice. I've also had leaking through the sunroof, and it soaked my floor, had to replace the carpet. My interior paint is rubbing off. My mirrors over the visors fell off. The chevy emblem on the back has been replaced twice. I also had a leak in a gasket. Now,I have some paint peeling off up over the door. This is not what I had in mind when I bought this SUV. For the price, these things should not be happening. The factory should recall these and fix the problems at no charge..especially the paint issues.

I have a 2005 Equinox, and last night was the first freezing temperature for us. All of a sudden, my paint above the back passenger door is literally breaking apart and falling off. I am going to contact GM as well. Has anyone else had any luck with this issue? I agree, this year of Equinox has way too many issues. So very frustrating.

JoAnne, So Sorry to hear that the cold is doing the same thing to your car that the heat has done to mine. The dealership has sent me to their body shop person and he has NO idea why this problem is happening. We now have the GM rep involved and waiting to see where we go from here. Keep on to these people, because it's a problem in the painting process.

Colleen, thank you! It is so frustrating! I have contacted GM but I am wondering if there is a way to link all of our concerns together so they can see how widespread the problem is? Any ideas? Thanks so much!!

I have the same issue ...I have a 2005 black equinox and the back passenger (right) door on the bottom near the wheels the paint is peeling off and flaky looking....i am not sure whether it is because of the hard freezing temperature we been having recently and i notice this is the only area that the paint is flaky...the left passenger door is fine.
