Sean - try standing beside the cargo box on the side just behind the cab and gently pull back and forth side to side to see if you can recreate it. Just a suble move to start then progress a little more vigorously. If you hear it, have someone else do it while you crawl under the truck and isolate it. Dealers are notorious for not getting involved in squeaks and rattles - it's not right but that has been my experience

P.S. Sean, the squeak is probably there above 30mph; it's just that above 30mph the squeak is masked by road and engine noise. Here in CA smog tests are done on a dynomometer. Perhaps you can find a shop w/ a dyno and explore the noise under operating conditions?

Did they check the alignment of the fan belt pulleys? Mine was squeeling pretty bad and they changed the pulleys under warranty. They said they had a service bulletin on the issue.

I have the same problem. I thought it was my brakes and the mechanic at Meineke said that it was rust creep on the brake rotors. The dealer said they never heard of it, but It appears to be there is rust creeping up from the center of the hub and rubbing against the brakes pads. The dealer said it wasn;t the brakes and found nothing. I have foudn several other people with thsi exact same problem, so OLooks like the 2005 Colorado is a POS. If I can;t get it fixed, I'm going to replce it.

i have the same problem, my squeek comes from the left rear of the car and has nothing to do with the brakes or any rust, it almost sounds like maybe a carriabe bolt is loose and is causing the cab to shift and squeek or something like that, if the dealer cant find the problem what are we to do??? just live with it??? well i say fuck that , i will claim lemon law on a nasty squeak before i just put myself in a 25k $ hole that im not happy with all dealers are cock suckers...peace

I have the EXACT same issue on a 2005 Colorado (thats how I found this forum/blog). I co-worker said "thats a rear u joint) as I pulled into work today. Said they area a HUGE PIA to replace on new trucks. something about heating them up and the wax seal blows out. Sounds like fun!

SQ8 suspension handles like a pig. Electric windows mukking up, coming up at angles. Speakers in rear doors falling out. Plastic bolts holding fender flares falling out. Damn, should of bought a Nissan or Toyota.

I think the sound you are hearing may be from the bushings for the torsion bar suspension that GM uses and has used on similar midsize trucks like the S10. You can have the bushings replaced but it will probably still make the squeek. I think also it is worse when temperatures are cold. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I have a 2005 chevy equinox AWD that also has a squeak in the drivetrain. worse in warmer weather -- not noticed in really cold weather.

Have had wheel bearings replaced, and both the dealer and my local firestone can't determine the source.

May be U-joint, or a bearing in the transfer case?? Don't really know.. but sounds like a common problem. I have seen similar threads with the colorado, as well as the seirera pickup.

I have the same squeak that the dealer said that they do not hear when they test drive. I take it off the lot of the garage and it squeaks again. They just fixed someone else's Colorado that was U joints but said that mine MAY not be the same. I really liked this truck until this. Dealt with GM before and it was horrible..not sure why I would have dealt with them again...must have been a lapse in judgement!!

I have a problem to find eng.programer to have better performance on my colorado crew cab 5 cyl. 3.5 4x4,2005;that light truck shut the eng.down at 98 mph,not like others pickups.if you are runing on a two way road and you need for a few seconds reach that speed to avoid accident you are lost, the worst is any eng.programer manufacturer have nothing in the market for a light truck with 4 years old in the market.
Im thinking seriously to sell the truck right away.

I don't know wtf is wrong with my Colorado's passenger side speakers. Neither the bass nor the treble speakers (i.e. the speaker and the woofer) work, and upon closer inspection, it looks like the speaker fell out/off of its attachment inside the door. The problem, however, started before the speaker fell out. And it's not like I can just pop the hood and inspect the wires (I tried that already). I know I play my music loudly in the truck, but the driver's side speaker and woofer are just fine, just the passenger side ones that are shot. I have no idea why. But it's the only problem I have with the Colorado ('05, got it in IL).

I had a problem with my passenger side speakers. The wires for them in the door were crimped which was affecting the sound and performance of them. Dealer mechanic thought this was relatively common. Dealer replaced at no cost.
