My A/C only blows on high setting. Set to 1-2or3 with A/C button in the compressor light stays on and the fan won,t blow. It was intermittent for a while but now permanent. Suspect a relay or something electrical. Please give any help.

according to guys at the coloradofans.com forum, it is the blower motor resistor. Not sure of the part number but mine does the same thing. I am gonna call the dealer.

Mine (2005 model) did the same thing just before the warranty expired. It was the blower motor resistor but they found out the reason if failed prematurely is the wiring harness that connects to the resistor was defective so that was changed also.

Is the resistor part of the fan blower motor?
I had the whole blower fan replaced 2 months ago and now it only works on the high setting.
I have a 2004
thanks,

Now it only works on high setting. Is the resitor part of the blower motor?

It just seems kind of funny that it would go right after the motor was replaced.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

My 2005 fan only worked on setting 4 (high) took it in and the dealer fixed it in about an hour he said the resistor went bad and is common because the harness they installed on the 2004 and 2005's were defective.

I had the same problem - I replaced the resister under the dash on the passinger side. Cost about $15 at the Chevy dealer. Could also be the relay - about $9 - under the hood in the fuse box. In fact after replacing the resister it worked great for a few days, then started cutting out again so I am planning to replace the relay also. I hope that solves the problem for good.

I have 2005 Chevy Colorado also, same problem AC blower works on 4 only,
Amazing is GM engineers doesn’t understand the problem, many years and GM has some problem,
Why not get smarter engineers. Or this part of the GM to sell parts for its products

It is shame to see no good American vehicle you can depend on.

I replaced the AC resistor, the relay as well as the wiring harness and the AC is still not blowing, what could be the problem? Could the blowwer motor itself be burnt up due to it being ran on high for so ling? Please help......

I have read on other forums that the blower problem only working on 4 could be because of the wire harness. They state that if the wire harness is kicked or moved by a passengers foot, then the problem shows up. Disconnecting and reconnecting the harness seems to clear things up. I will have to test this the next time mine decides to stop working.
