Yes, and it should be changed when belt gets worn. If you are unable to know yourself, have a shop look at it!

My 1999 Cavalier has a leak somewhere. When it rains I have water in the floor, especially in the front driver's side. Where is it coming from? I got 2 cups of water out today, after a bad rain.

if it is a 2.4 liter engine in your cavalier it does not have a timing belt it has just a serpentine belt which should be changed around every 50 to 100,000 km or if worn or cracked..and as for the leaks Bill they are usually caused by poor weather stripping either swollen or loose have a leak guy check it over they do an awesome job.

I have a 1999 cavalier Z24 which I just purchased.
I want to check the transmission fluid but cannot find the dipstick for the transmission. Where is it supposed to be? Mine must be broken off.
I do not have an owners manual.

I have a 1999 Cavalier Z24, convertible, only 1 problem, it leaks when it rains, but only on 1 side. I can't seem to get anyone to fix it correctly. Has anyone else had the same problem, and if so, when you fixed it, did it still leak??

cav automatics never need to have their transmission fluid checked but manuals do. this is in reply to Garths question.

I'm changing my alternator on my 99 cav. Do I need to release the tensioner to install the serpentine belt. Doesn't look it can be done otherwise? gpt old one off fine but as always putting something back together is much harder.

It should use a 3/8" square drive to release the tensioner.

hey i just got some speakers installed in my car and i wanted to take the carpet out that covered them i did and i cut out a whole for the speakers to be seen and put a cover on the speakers (it came with them) and the whole was just a little bit to big any one know any solutions or where i could get another interior trim kit?
