just wanted to thank everyone for their advice on the caveliers headlight flickering problems. This has helped us diagnose a problem. Thank you to all the shade tree mechanics and the certified ones out there for the valuable info.

2004 cavalier, standard..dont know what else you might want to know..anyway the antitheft/passlock system caused problem, it's now at the dealer where they reset everything but they say the service engine light remains on and there is no code found. If dealer cant find problem then how do I?

Not sure if you still need this. But just happened to us last night. It means you have a headlight out. Lots of worry for just a little problem.
I have changed my headlights and my lights continue to flicker. Any other ideas

I am a tech and thought I should answer this... If you have a solid service light - check if when you engage the car your daytime run light indicator is flashing if some turn on your head light and check to see if both are lit if not replace, if they are you have an electrical system failure try removing the batt and hold the brake, otherwise take in for service. If no flashing replace gas cap... The service lit is a stylish annosnce light giving you warning about mandane failures.

My headlight went out last night. Today, my Service light came on. I figure one has to do with the other. Chances are with me. Yes?

I have a 99' cav. and the service lights, battery, brakes, seat belt, and abs lights come on for short times along with the temp gauge dropping to 0 and the rpm to 0 while driving at any speed. The engine does not seem to miss a beat at all when this happens but it still makes me leary to drive with my kids along. Any one have any answers?

Thanks! I had a headlight flicker problem. It was an out headlight... I didn't think this car was that smart so never thought to check the logical place.

When you turn car off and ignition on youll hear a clicking noise. Pay attention to,daylight runner light icon on top right. If it flashes as the service light,is on its a burnt out head light. If not its low clutch fluid on standard models or a gas cap and the service light is all minor issues. Check engine lights are serious about 70% of the time and if check engin light ever blinks do not drive at alllll!!! It means cylinder misfire. Hope i helped. Justin
