These cars have very few parts you can add to them as bolt ons. The only hope for the engine to improve its hp is simply by adding something worth more than the car itself. If its a 2.2l, a turbo.
For 2.4l ecotec you can add a supercharger.
wtf? big man this is not like a 350 engine on a 95 suburban. Cavaliers have 4 pistons, one header, yes they do have a computer but the only thing you can do their is alter it for better performance, depends on what you want.
I have a cavaler 2.2l and all i got in it is Cold air in, and $70 muffler. Not much of a diff but sounds great :)

I got a 05 Cobalt witht he same motor... some new cams will bump up the hp.... along with performance valve springs... header!!! I have magna flow exhaust... it gets the trick done... Umm cold air intake help a little... the only way to get past the fuel shut off valve...(not a govener)is to get a new computer!!! Then you can change it... along with the traction control switch and if you have a automatic you can change shift points!!! All this costs about 3000 bucks... that rounding up!!! Im happy with my car so maybe your car can be just as good... I get up to about 140mph b4 I have to back off!!! Enjoy!

I just picked up a 2003 Sunfire with 99,000km on it for 10g. I only bought it for fuel mileage but looking under the hood where the hell is the ingnition box or for that matter the damn spark plugs. this is one retarded setup on a 4 banger motor. So what I did was replace the motor with a dodge 148 cubic inch turbo out of a pt cruiser, lots more better motor but the gm sunfire couldn't handle it and blew out the trans axels within 20,000km. In conclusion, junk the gm motor find a rolled pt cruiser take the motor stick it in with the turbo and just be carefull and skunk any other sunfire or cavalier that pulls up beside you.

PT Cruiser???HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! You mean an overweight NEON??? Whay junk...besides I don't believe you as a neon motor won"t bolt to a GM trans axle...Go to your Chevy dealer and ask for the Performance catalog.Lots of goodies in there,
I challenge you to get a PT Loser performance catalog.HAHAHA best laugh I've had all day!
