Blazer will not even attempt to turn over. Dead! Have changed battery and checked alternator. Both are good. Any Ideas?

Well I have the exact same trouble in my 2001 Blazer. It is dead as a door nail. Battery is good, i tryed the igintion switch, the starter, and now the alternator. This must be a chevy thing.

I have the same thing happening to me with my 99 Saturn. I turn the key and -- nothing. It is as if someone yanked the battery out of the car. It kind of reminds me of the DeLorian on “Back to the Future,” when it suddenly quits as if someone turned off a light switch. If I try a few more times, or just turn the ignition on for a while before turning the key further to engage the starter, the thing suddenly regains power, lights come on, radio starts working again and the starter engages! Once the starter engages, the engine turns over effortlessly and starts right up. Each time this happens, I have to reset the stations on my radio and set the time on the clock, because everything is erased from the complete loss of electrical power. I checked the battery cables, and all connections and everything is tight. It seems to happen most when it is cold outside -- the colder it is, the more severe the problem or the more frequent the problem happens.

My 98 Blazer does the exact same thing, you go to turn the key and everything goes dead. The connection to the battery is what sucks. I have to wiggle them around until it re-connects but even then you have to wait a minute or two before it will start again.

Mine started by it's self, and turned off. Then caugth fire, rolled down my driveway on to my neighbors property were it EXPLODED.I was injured in the process of it rolling down my driveway. It WAS a 1997 blazer, it burnt to a crisp before the firedept. could arive. It was all over in less than 15 min. Im now searching legal advice. Owners beware, have your mirror switch in drivers door checked for a faulty switch. God be with you ALL.
