I'm looking at getting a 99 AWD Astro 4.3 V6. I'll probably get it converted to LPG. My only concern is where do I get parts if any go wrong? Any advice- good or bad would be welcomed about this Van. Thanks, Nick.

There is several places to get parts and are no more expensive than your average vectra ive just done my water pump from US AUTOMOTIVE in bedford which old stock of most parts and they know there stuff (do a google search)for 75 plus postage i dont think you can get more motor for the money the only thing ive heard from a freind who has the AWD is a little more thirsty than the 2WD
hope this is of some help (if a little late)Paul

i'm getting my astro converted soon and i have been advised that the astro engine post 98 struggles with valve problems when you convert them to lpg. try a 97 4.3

Hi, Driving my astro I suddenly became aware of a vibration that felt like a cylinder gone down, I changed plugs, checked leads to no avail. I could not work out why this vibration is intermittent, after further checking I discovered less vibration when engine fan cowling removed and ceases completely when fan and clutch removed. The fans in good nick so I suspect the fan clutch although apart from a little cosmetic issues looks ok to. Anyone had or knows of a similar scenario, its not a particular cheap part to change on the off chance. Thanks petemate.

I had a similar problem, changed the distributor cap & rotor arm, that cured it.

Hi Nick, there are a number of LPG conversion companies across the UK. If you go for a reputable system spares and servicing won't be a problem.

Just bear in mind that the 4.3 V6 has softer valve seats. LPG produces higher temperatures than petrol during combustion. I would strongly advise that you have a 'flash-lube system installed. This can either be a 'continuous drip' feed or automatic. In my opinion the auto feed is preferable as it is less wasteful.
Hope this helps. Regards, Chris
