1993 Cadillac STS

Message Center indicates a security problem. It reads security issue vehicle may not start. The car will then start for several times then it will not. Any suggestions how to bypass the security system. Please help.

go have a remote starter installed they bypass it so it will start with the remote talk to a installer about it had same problem on my car

I have a 93 sts and it was running fine than out of now were it just stoped running i have spark and new gas but it doesn't seem to be fireing at the same time so... here we go I put a new intake air temp, mass air flow, two crank sensors, cam sensor, Ignition Mod, spark plugs, fuel pressure regulator, computer (ECM,ECU,PCM) can not find MAP sensor assuming no sensor for this car what else should I do? I see mike had problem with security but it won't start at all. Please Help....

The Starter on that car is under the intake. Take it to someone (not the dealer) thatr works on cadillacs. I just 300.00 dollars for a new starter and replacement. any questions [e-mail]

Brandon - Did you check the fuel pump or listen to see if it is working. sounds as though you are not getting gas

I have a 93 cadi sts and every once in awhile when I drop down from 55 or so it jerks like it is gonna quit and once in awhile when I take my foot off the gas it quits. My mechanic doesn't know much about the northstar engine so he is not much help. And I really cannot afford togo to a cadi dealer. any suggestions? The car runs fine other than that.

My 93 sts acts like it is gonna stall when I am slowing down like from 55 it kinds jerks than sometimes when I take my foot off the gas it really does quit, THe car runs fine other than that. My mechanic is not familiar with the northstar engine and I don't want to take it to a dealer. Anyone else have this problem?

my 1993 sts will sputter,jump and shut off only when sifted into drive position,and then the a/c will come on automatically....help!

THE REMOTE START ON MY 2006 WILL NOT WORK. DOES MY FUEL LEVEL HAVE ANY BEARING ON THE REMOTE STARTER WORKING??

i have been quoted 1200.00 for installation of the starter. you can do it yourself, just remove the top of the motor where the fuel injectors are and replace the starter. it is a bit time consuming but is easily done. for detailed instructions email [e-mail]

i was told by the dealer it could be a number of things...road sensor, speed sensor to name a few...best to have it diagnosed by a reputable person, not the dealer. in my area it's 100.00 an hr for a diagnostic with a 1 hr minimum

first thing you need to do is disconnect or take out the battery... then on top of the engine take out the twelve bolts that hold the cover with the Cadillac symbol on it.. when that's removed go over to the drivers side and disconnect the two plus that house the wire harness there are four bolts that hold the intake down
there are two bolts on top of the throttle body that need to be removed on the side of the throttle cable is a bolt which is an 8mm bolt loosen a little and let lean to side
pick up on the passenger side of intake to reveal the starter by the way be very gentle when moving any of the vac lines their very fragile

i have a 93 Cadillac STS and i am proud of the power(which is 295 hp and 290 fts lbs torque) and handling of the car... the northstar engine even though expensive to fix most miner problems can be token care of by myself... with the small bit of mechanical skills i have...
all and all its a good car that i am going to try to keep on the road for a while... Ford man or not...
