I have a 2006 CTS-V with 5100 mi. I had the
check oil warning come on at about 2400 mi. Upon checking, I discovered it a quart low. Since it was the original oil from delivery, I had the oil changed. The Check Oil warning came on again this weekend at 5,000 mi. I was close to the Cadillac dealer I bought it from and pulled in to have them check. Again, it was a quart low. They added the oil to get it back up to snuff and my rep there says that would be normal under hard driving conditions,( What the heck is this monster all About ?). Has anyone out there seen this kind of oil consumption ? |

Since the CTS-V has a Corvette engine, it inherits the vette oil ring problem

I had the same thing happen to me and I do not drive hard normally. My Corvette di the same thing as well as my Mustangs and my Porsche. (One Quart Every 800 mi)

I have the same problem but worse . I am burning two quarts of oil every 1500 miles. These GM guys will not respond all they do is another GM oil consumption test. I have had it I only have 4500 miles on the car |

I have the same problem but worse .
The car is burning quart every 1000 miles. GM will not respond. |

My '05 V does not consume any measuarble amount of oil through 15,000 miles and seveal oil changes. My 2001 C5 did use a quart of Mobil 1 between changes. GM fixed the oil control ring problem after the 2001 LS1 engine began to exhibit a problem. A quart every 1,000 miles is not normal for a street driven car, even for a high performance engine |

No problems here in my V, i actually went over 1,000 miles with no problem
|

My 2006 CTS-V finally quit using oil between
changes at about 8,000 miles. Seems like a long time to seat the rings ? Anyway I am glad it has stopped. Anyone else find that the problem went away ? |

[I have a 2004 Srx with the v6, the thing sucks oil, almost 4 qts beteen oil changes. Cadillac says int normal for the driving conditions I put the car under.....Ive never experienced anything like this before

I have a 2004 SRX with 63k on it. It now uses almost 3qts between oil changes which I feel is unacceptable.
Cadillac tells me it is normal...if they cant fix it, this will be the last caddy I own. Accura here I come! |

I just discovered that my 2005 CTS 2.8 consumed 4 litres of oil since the last oil change (14,000 kilomters ago - seems long but that's what the monitoring system is letting me do) and it is only at 36,000 kilometers now. I noticed that the exhaust outlet is very sooty from the burning of the oil.

Hi Joe, what can u tell me about the 2001 oil ring control problem, I have an 2001 LS1 61000 miles that has started smoking blue, pls email me at jwyerxa@nbnet.nb.ca thks |

I must put in a quart of oil in my 2005 CTS every 1200 miles. After being a caddy owner for 22 years, I just might make a switch! I was offered an oil consumption test, too. Unfortunately, that is not the fix!! |
||||
|
my 2003 cts with only 110,000 km has started leaking engine oil into the radiator reservoir!
This car obviously has defective poor quality not durable parts which is not right for a luxury car i do not know and shudder to think how much this would cost to repair since i do not have extended warranty this sucks |

Have the same problem with oil consumption on my wife's CTS. Cadillac is giving us the run around with doing an oil consumption test. Apparently there is a problem with the engine and Cadillac does not want to except the liability. I thought Cadillac would be a reputable company to deal with. Is it a wonder why they are having financial difficulties and everyone is buying foreign vehicles.

My 2005 Cadillac CTS has been using oil since I bought it (new). Now it uses a quart of expensive oil every 2000 or less miles. GM and the dealership says this is normal. Based on all the comments I've read on Topix, what's wrong with this picture? Previously, I had a 2003 CTS and had so many engine problems. The dealership convinced me to trade up to the 2005. "Fool me twice: Shame on me." I am in the process of getting rid of this piece of ....

I have a 2005 CTS and it is burning a liter of oil every 3000 kms ( at 80,000 kms). The dealer has done nothing except "oil consumption tests" and tell me that "GM considers this an acceptable level of oil consumption." Last Caddy for me.

I'm driving a 2005 CTS-V and don't use any oil between changes. I also have owned 6 Corvettes (including 2 C5's) without any abnormal oil consumption problems. I've heard that driving style can affect oil consumption.

Cadillac has problems with rings, and they know it. If you complain enough they will fix it, even though they will do everything they can to convince you it's normal. This same engine also has a lot of oil leakage problems that they like to ignore. I worked at dealers for 30 years and a Cad dealer the last 5 years before I retired.

Oil consumption 2005 Corvette, same engine as CTS. I have filed a claim with BBB Auto Line. Would appreciate any input Cadillac or Vette with high oil usage. One quart every 1,000 miles or less. This is a Calif claim.
