Ihave a problem with the radio. When the key is in the ignition it doesn't work, also when the car is running, but when the car is turned off and the key out of the ignition it work. Actually a few things stopped working with this problem. One being the interior dome lights, they work also when the car is off and the ignition key out of the ignition. Once the car is running they do not work. Any suggestions?

Sounds like a poular problem, as my radio stopped workng the other day also. Along with the radio I noticed the the locks no longer auto lock when the car is put in gear and the auto dimmer stopped working on the rear view mirror.

check the fuses. look under the dash and sometimes under the hood of your car. they should say "radio" or something to that effect.

Possibilities?
1) the "multifunction" module is failing and powering down the circuit due to "low-power" fault. you did not say if the radio works when the car is off, or if it works and fails. Do your trunk and fuel door still work with the remote? Try this - use the remote when the car is running and the radio has failed, and see if it causes the radio to come on. If it does, it is resetting the module (because voltage is applied to the opposite side of the failure when the remote is used). I never fixed mine - I just soldered a jumper across pins 12 and 14 of the module. When it chokes now I lose my interior lamp but the radio stays on (I'll replace it someday).
2) There are TWO fuses that control the radio - one powers it when the car is OFF (twilight mode) and the other when the car is ON. If radio works with car off but not ON check those fuses again.
3) Failing heater auxillary water pump - will cause the multifunction module to "low-power" fault the radio circuit....strange but true.

Bryan is absolutely correct. It is the fuse that powers the auxilliary waterpump for the heater circuit. I believe it's number 10 fuse.I had to get the pump replaced in order to get the radio wroking again. the pump is on the inside of the passenger side fender.

Sure enough...it was the number 10 fuse. I had checked it but obviously didn't do a good enough job. Really appreciated finding this thread!! My mechanic indicates that there is some sort of a control module associated with this fuze so it isn't obvious that it controls other items. If I have further problems, the aux water pump will be number 1 to check.

i have the same problem i hate when my radio all of a sudden when i'm driving stops working... and i certainly find a conection as some say with the water pump problem and the fuses since the little water tank is above the fuses in the hood in the passengers seat side and also i have water leak for sure because i have to fill the water tank like every 3 days... i think i might have to check that number one....... thanks!!!!!!!!!!
