Globalization cuts both ways. At my company, we've been able to weather the current economy by selling consulting services to overseas clients. If it weren't globalization, we'd have little to no work right now. I wish there were a way for GM to sell those vehicles overseas instead of having to cut US production.

Vet, he kinda has a point though. When was the last time the big three made a quality vehicle that would last? The 60s perhaps? They have kept putting in the latest and greatest creature comforts, making all these big vehicles to stroke Americas "Jones's" factor, but, they haven't been improving the quality. U.S. vehicles don't really last more than 5 years anymore.
Go to a car show sometime, you won't find hardly any cars made past 1975 or 76 (unless the owner tricked theirs out).
It's not just the company big shots that don't give a hoot, but, the workers too don't care anymore. It's all about getting the "Benjis" and doing as little as possible to earn them anymore.
