We bought our 2001 Impala used from a dealer in 2003. After 3 months we noticed there were spots on our driveway. We also had a 1989 vehicle & had thought that was the leaker up til that point. When we took it in to David Chev (dealer) they said it was out of waranty & nothing could be done. At that time the leak was not identified as to the cause.
This vehicle also has the popping/crunching sounds in the suspension I have read about on other Impala sites. We just had to have the heater blower replaced & were informed about the manifold leak & that it would cost $2000 to repair. "This is a common problem with this engine" If it so common why is it not bein repaired at GM's expense?

My 98 Buick LeSabre Custom bought used in 2001 had odometer reading of 50k plus, a 3.8 v-6 and all the bells and whistles. Nice clean car with leather. Lo and behold, one year later my dealer had to replace the intake manifold for $800 plus, claiming this was a common problem!!
I sent in a
claim to GM , but no dice. No explanation either! Now I understand that beginning with the 2004 model, GM has corrected this problem. Seems it was of inferior quality to start with. Probably made in Bangledesh.

You wrote a letter on a car that is 10 model years old? Seriously? GM will goodwill up to 70k if you bought the car new, but I am astonished that you think your car should be perfect forever and general motors is forever required to repair your vehicle for life. Amazing.

We had no heat in our 1998 chevy blazer and when I took it in I was told that the antifreeze was leaking into the intake manifold. This is apparently a widespread issue for Chevy Blazers. It is recommended to have your anti-freeze flushed every 3 years but the manual from Chevy states no need until 150,000 miles or more. The repair cost us $600.

If anyone knows when the lawsuit comes to the US, please let me know.

My 2001 Malibu has been a headache second after if was off warranty- had t replace the ignition (he said the weight of all my keys...huh? I have 5!)

That was a pain as I kept bringing in the car as dashboard warnings were going on and no codes... I found out the the net to check the ignition! So I told the technician for the Chevy dealer!

Anyway, after that I have been in a slow leak frenzy for the famous gasket. Waiting for the recall, using Stop Leak in the radiator that seems to work for now. I just sent $400 for a power steering hose and to so I am not in the position to plunk another 6-800.00 for a 25 cent part. Seems the gasket was made by an inferor plastic that cannot withstand heat. New one can... but it is mainly laboe to replace it as the the engne needs to be taken apart to get to it.

Next car... Camry or Corolla!

Why can't this get recalled?????

My 2002 Alero was leaking Dexcool, had the intake gaskets replaced. Tolal bill was over $800. Now my 2003 Pontiac Montana is having the same problem. Got an estimate for $650 to have it fixed. My next car will not be a GM.
