GM Extends Warranty on Some Front Wheel Bearings

If you own a Buick Rendezvous or Pontiac Aztek, General Motors says front wheel bearings on 2002 through 2004 models could wear out prematurely.

I took my 2003 Rendezvous in three or four times while it was under it's original 36,000 mile warranty and complained of a "growling" coming from the front wheels. The dealership said they could not "duplicate the problem and that they could find nothing wrong. Now the vehicle has 71,000 miles on it and we received the notification from Buick regarding the problem. We took the vehicle back to the dealer and they have now found the problem with the wheel bearing but it is no longer under warranty, so they won't pay. Any suggestions? Anyone else out theri with a similar problem?

I have 2001 Aztek and the same problem is happening to me. I am getting them taken care of today actually. I don't know how to get GM to pay for it. I know that this is a problem found in a majority of Aztek's... Any suggestions?

any extended warranty on the grandam bearings? I have a 2004 2.2 grand am w/ 70000 Kms and the right front bearing is gone.

I havent heard anything on getting any money back either thought I would go to the website to find out when there paying off but it says nothing!!!

How many times did you take the car in? Could it qualify for the lemon law?

Just got my '04 looked at (loud noise from the front, I thought it was noise from worn and feathered tires)and they offered to replace the right front wheel bearing 'under warranty'

We have a 2002 Buick Rendeezvous that has required 5 wheel bearings!!! And because the first was repaired at 105,000 km ( just over 60,000 miles) even though we were complaining about the noise previously, GM will not stand behind its product. At the time,we were told by a GM rep that after 100,000 km, the car was considered basically finished.--So needless to say we will not be purchasing another Buick product in the future--they apparently are not designed to last more than 100,00 km.

Hey I had a front bearing go out 12 days after my warranty was up on my 2004 pontiac aztek AWD versatrak. luckily the dealer was able to get it fixed under warranty.

When i picked up my vehicle it was still making a growling noise from the rear this time. Low and behold a rear bearing was out also. The dealer was able to put this under warranty also. I only have 24000 miles on my vehicle. I think it is up to the dealer on how hard they push to get this fixed. Oh yeah this vehicle is fantastic in the snow.

I own a 2001 awd Aztek in St.Johns, Newfoundland, Canada. I am looking for a transmission. There are none to be had here. The model is M76 and the type is 4T65E. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I have an '04 Rendezvous. The Anti-Lock brake light and AWD lights have come on for the 3rd time now. The last time this happened it was still under warranty and the service tech told me it was an easy fix; the plug came unplugged. Would anyone know where this "plug" is located so I don't have to pay them for a recurring easy fix?

My 2004 Pontiac Montana has the awd disable message lit up. Owner's manual said to turn key on, off, and back on to clear it. Wont work. Called ASE mechanic, who told me that he couldn't find any info on this and saw no service bulletins on it. I'm in 2 wheel drive with the light on, and can't find help on this problem. Can't affor a $100 diagnostic fee, and $65 per hour plus parts right now. Any help out there? Email replies please.

I have an '03 Aztec...I get a growling noise from the front end when I turn the key to the on position without starting the vehicle...If it doesn't make the noise then it will make it after moving the vehicle a few feet or for about 5 to 10 seconds. I was told by a mechanic that it is the air ride suspension!!
Didn't know I had that.

Help...it seems the growling and groaning gets a little longer each time.

We had the same problem and we threatened to sue them and they paid up--well after the warranty. This was Jan of 07. Good luck!

Todd , had ours go out twice , on 2001 asteck . Second time it happened went to transmission shop had transmission put in with retro fit .transmission guy said the pointac parts used in transmission where cheap made . this guy works on fixing up race cars , hot rods and redoing old trucks/cars from 1950's so i know he knows what he is saying . havent had a problem yet , that was last year he did it . if you are interested in finding out info can get you his number he can explain it to you - then you get a tansmission shop to do it for you in your area . look for me on azteck rally fan club board . i have same forum name as name im using here .

right front wheel hub just replaced on 2003 ATEK with 65k miles.
is the extended warranty thing still valid?

left one was replaced a few months ago but lucikly for me, car was hit in accident and other insurance paid for it.
