I can not find any information about the 455, 4 barrel, 2 speed power-glide with a ram air hood in my 68 Skylark 2 door custom. How can I find out if it is the original engine or special order or factory or any history on this puppy?

GM had a corporate regulation against having a motor with displacement of over 400 cubic inches in midsize cars other than the corvette. Chances are, unless it was an experimental car at the time the parts you described were added by a previous owner.

68' Skylarks came with either a 350 or 400 cid V-8 Buick also had a 430 but it was not used in the Skylarks. if your car has a 455 in it, it's something that was done after 1970 when the 455 was first used by buick. 68' did not have a functional ram air hood, the 68' GS hood had only a fake scoop near the windsheild. 69' had a functional ram air, it's scoops were in the center of the hood.
