The rear door on our Rendezvous is extremely heavy to pull down - I feel like my shoulder is going to snap every time I have to pull on it!

To make matters worse, the STRAP broke off so I can no longer use it to pull the door down. I have read in other posts that it is hard to find a replacement strap (have not tried to find one yet). Does anyone have any input on this??
Thanks!

Our local Buick dealer said they could order one for about $25.00. I can't find one on the web, so might go with the dealer. Pricey.

back Hatch is an actuator inside rear doodr panel. You need to replace, problem is that panels cannot be removed without the hatch being opened. The AC Delco replacement part is about $17.00 -$25.00, the dealer wants $500.00 to replace!!!

If the rear hatch fails to open you can manually "trip" the latch mechanism from inside with a flat bladed screw driver, Locate a round hole plug in the inside hatch plastic trim just below the pull down handle, Pop it out and insert the screw driver toward the upper right side of the hole ( a flash light helps). There is a lever on the right side of the latch. Trip this lever while pushing out on the bottom of the hatch. Now you can at least get access be able to trouble shoot the problem. Getting the inner trim panels off is another issue.

although not easy you can replace the outside hatch release. you just need to find the right sized screwdriver and find one with an offset shaft. It is not to hard but much better than taking off the whole inside of the door.
Buick should fix this by making it easier to change from the outside. would be an easy fix if they changed the shape of the handle just a little bigger.
Better yet get away from unnecessary electronics and actuators and just put a regular release handle

I agree with Jbarrick
Just put a regular release latch on the damn thing
I've already had the latch replaced once and now I have to have it replaced again
Thanks Buick
