The air conditioner in my 2001 Buick Century is blowing cool air intermittantly with warm air. Can anyone tell me if they had a similar problem and what the solution was?

I bought my century used a few months ago and the air conditioning works if the TEMPERATURE that shows on the panel reads the correct temp .. but if it shows the wrong temp the air doesn t blow cool air it blows hot air... I live in Arizona and I need the cool air... anyone else have or had this problem? Does it sound like a major fix or no? thanks

I am having the same problem with my 98 Buick Century. We've tried all the obvious things, but nothing seems to help. Let me know if you find a solution. Thanks. |

I have a 96 buick century. I did have some major work done regarding components relating to my air condition. $700 dollars. then I had problems with cold air coming out. that's when I had a mechanic used some device to take out the moisture from car and put 1 can of stop leak and 3 cans of freon: my car's air condition is near freezing cold.

I have a 2000 Buick Century. It is experiencing the same problems described here. When both temperature sliders are set for maximum cold, the passenger side blows ice cold air and the driver's side blows warm air.
However, I found a hack to get cold air to come out of the driver's side. You simply have to hold the temperature slider down with a finger or a piece of tape. The problem would then appear to be limited to a mechanical failure of the temperature input control. |

1 Here is the technical analysis of the problem. I took apart the module and inspected it yesterday. The temperature selection sliders are simply linear potentiometers mounted on a PCB. I found that the solder joints on the potentiometer used to control the driver's side had failed. This explains why it was possible to get cold air when forcing the slider down. Doing so forced the broken solder joint to make a connection. The fixed entailed resoldering the joints of the potentiometer. I put a hefty amount of solder on them so that they will not break again. This problem occurred because of improper PCB design. The potentiometers have legs coming off of the casing that should be soldered to the PCB to support them. However, GM decided to use the electrical pins for support instead. Over time those connections were stressed by repeatedly moving the temperature slider until eventually, they broke free from the PCB. |

I just bought a '98 Century - A/C cooling OK on passenger side - much warmer on the driver's side. I pulled off the underdash shield (two clips) on the driver's side. Under it was a vacuum operated valve with a translucent, soft, rubber fitting to the valve. It was apparently stretched a bit and leaking. Pulled it off and put a drop of ArmorAll in it, put it back on, and taped it with electrician's tape. The cooling is working fine now. |

I have a 2000 lesabre it is digital temp control. I get the same problem with hot on driver cold on passenger. I have found when I put 55 pressure in both work but alas it only works for a few days then it goes away from a leak i cannot find. It is needed because my back windows dont go down. I had a bad battery, and from the power not being proper to the decice that spreads the power out it was sending too much here and there. Blew all my lights a few times blew all window motors at about700 each augh.

My 2001 Century a/c quit blowing cold air all together. All the fuzes are good. the relays are good and all the clutches and fans work when jumped out.
The system is holding 250# pressure at a dead stop. I don't think the liquid 134A even pushes that high at 100 degrees. Anyone got any ideas? HELP!!!! |
