I also have a 2006 X5 with electrical problems. The alarm went off all the time which was due to a faulty sensor in the engine compartment. The hazard lights went on while driving, a faulty switch needed to be replaced. The rain sensors needed to be replaced, the speed sensors in the wheels needed to be replaced. The fuel gauge has not worked properly since I drove the car off the lot. All the fuel sensors have been replaced. The entire instrument cluster was replaced. I was told I was using the wrong fuel - needs to be "top tier fuels". Wish someone told me that when I first bought the car. The gas tanks were almost replaced but they changed their minds and replaced fuel sensors for the 3rd time. All in all disappointed and aggravated but it's not costing me anything to have this all fixed. Will think hard when it comes time for a new car. Fuel gauge still does not work properly. sam joudeh wrote: Hey guys. I had a 2006 X5 3.0. About a week ago electrical system went crazy while I was driving. d The wipers were going on and off, the lights were doing the same, and my trunk popped open. I actually heard all the fuses in the dash popping one by one. The car then caught fire and was totalled. My insurance told me it would be smarter to use my warranty for a replacement car so I don't put a claim on my record. BMW of North America has been no help and didn't even give me a loaner until 5 days after. To get the loaner, I had to call and call and call and threaten to have the burnt out car towed to my local dealer. Any similar problems?

First of all this man is making a legalimit complain and then you put your two cents in. It often is better to keep your mouth shut and let every one think that you are a fool rather than opening it and removing all sorts of doubt.

You are such a CHUMP, If in fact you are from a dealership, shame on you, if you can't help then keep your mouth shut. It's IDIOTS like yourself that really irritate me. This forum I thought was for exchange of ideas, experiences of X5 owners and not for commentary as to what one should have done a long time ago.

The X5's aren't manufactured in Spartanburg, SC. So the E53 worker is talking about some other vehicles. I have had an oil consumption problem listed elsewhere on this site, the computer display pixel loss (which I fixed, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else, getting the needles off the spindles was a horrifying experience), and a blown air conditioning resistor that the dealership replaced. I have a 2002 4.4i X5 that I have owned since December 2005 and have put on 35K miles. I am very happy with the performance so far, but I will keep a log of anything else that might break.

I own a 2003 x5 with 50,000 miles and until now I have had no problems with it. Before buying it I had the subscription for Consumer Report which guided me to buying my x5 cause they have a feedback of all the years in cars and everything. I love my x5
