Bottom line, what I hear EVERYONE over here saying is:
Lexus is a "rider's car" whereas BMW is a "driver's car", so, depending on your "needs" u can either opt for obsessing over a "smooth ride" or over "taking a curve @ 100 miles/ hr with your head on fire" and pick your car accordingly! However, to those who bitch about bmw's ENGINE,and how it sounds, don't broadcast your automotive ignorance any further mates! first of all, to use your language, it is not "harsh" it, humms! also, if you're really into NOT feeling the road and getting a smooth ride, you can always opt out of low profile tires and a sport package! People who argue this amuse me! like this is a problem UNIQUE to bmw, it isn't, a car manfuacturer will ALWAYS have to sacrifice comfort for performance, simply because the laws of physics dictate it! whether its lexus or bmw.... |

Ummm...does'nt driving a BMW mean you are insecure about your ball size??
|
|
For you, maybe, only YOU can really know your own ball size, for the rest of us, we'd just rather talk bout cars!

I picked a BMW over an Infiniti, Cadillac and Merc-benz
Just for the record, The Lexus is a joke, I don't care if that Toyota shit is one of the most dependable cars on the road blah blah blah, they are just glorified, extra ugly, overpriced Toyotas. That's all they are. Don't be fooled a Lexus is nothing more but a crappy Toyota with engine sludge in disguise. Same story with Acuras, and Hondas. The ONLY Jap luxury brand I think is even HALF DECENT is Infiniti, the other 2 are BOTH GARBAGE!! 4685 |

I have trouble telling lexus and camry apart from far! and to your point, infinity sets itself a bit more apart from its generic counterpart, not just looks-wize but overall feel, performance, and materials

Same thing with the Lexus and the Avalon, Lexus and the Land Cruiser etc. Yes, and in terms of overall value, Infiniti really is laying the wood down on it's competition but the salespeople at Infiniti are so hard to deal with, As for Acura, the only Acura I like that does NOT look like a regular Honda is the NSX. But it's impractical, anyways, I belive the only thing Lexus is good for is BLAND RELIABILITY and nothing more.

How does the 3 series compare to Audi? I've never been in an audi, but the movie "transporter" has made it famous!

Funny most of the people bashing Lexus on here make the most ignorant remarks, for example
"I went to Toyoda Lexus dealer and tested drive for IS 250, I did not like it. Exterior looks nothing, i felt like I was driving Civic. and Peformance wasn't great like 2006 BMW 3 series. BMW looks more rich and elegant, and BMW feels much better and exterior and interior are more expensive material than IS 250. If you see IS 250 interior, you will know how they put all the cheap plastic inside. I don't pay for that cost for Toyoda cars. That's crazy" Cheap plastics are you serious? The interior of the Lexus IS is FAR more plush than the bmw, the styling of the IS is far more attractive than that of the 3 series sedan, the IS comes with Adaptive front bi-xenon's, paddle shifters, however I will agree I do like the coupe version of the 3 series better than the IS in terms of styling, I'm a sucker for a coupe, although I would rather own the new Audi A5 over a 3 series coupe anyday. In addition from someone that has been stranded on the side of the road many times I would prefer the looks, reliability over the slightly better handling (you will never need unless your going around a track) its funny to see everyone say oh Lexus is just an overpriced toyota however these same people never do the research, the IS 250 is not based on any platform toyota offers, neither is the LS, GS, RX, and SC. Also 90% of the people posting on here most likely couldn't afford a Lexus which price wise is just about up there with BMW. |

Lexus >Infinity, infiniti is a joke and almost went out of business, you want to talk about cars that resemble their cheaper counterparts the sentra looks exactly like the g35, the m45 looks exactly like the maxima, the FX looks exactly like the Murano however the LEXUS IS has no equal, the carolla is not even CLOSE to the chassis or look of the car, the LS, RX, SC, GS are all unique cars, the same cannot be said for Infinit , their leather is stiff, and their wood and aluminum trim looks like cheap crap, the only thing that infiniti offers more of than lexus is performance, outside of that infiniti is a bland, uncomfortable car that looks like a nissan thats trying to look expensive.
|
|
This was the funniest statement I've read so far on this topic Lexus being surpassed by infiniti in terms of looks, I could easily buy a nissan throw some chrome rims on it and voila an infiniti |

Are you kidding me?? Here we go: Lexus SC=Toyota Solara Lexus LS=Toyota Avalon Lexus LX=Toyota Land Cruiser Lexus IS=Toyota Corolla Lexus ES=Toyota Camry And just so you know, the AWD GS was one of the least reliable cars, here: “Toyota’s V6 version of the top-selling Camry and the four-wheel-drive V8 version of the Tundra pickup, both redesigned for 2007, now rate BELOW AVERAGE in the Consumer Reports predicted reliability rating. So does the all-wheel-drive version of the Lexus GS sedan. Accordingly, NONE of them makes CR’s “Recommended” list.” Heck, I can just go on and on. How can you say that Infiniti is bland though?? The Lexus is just as soulless as a whirlpool washing machine-yet they try to compare them to a European car. To be honest with you, I don't like Japanese cars or ANY KIND, their engine sounds are terrible and they are dreadfully ugly. I prefer my Boxster though, but since thats not whats at hand here, I will take a BMW. |

I own an 04 M3 now, and I could be a little bias to BMW, but I have to admit after watching a comparo show, the new audi RS4 is a better track car than the new M3 sadly, it's the all-wheel drive. Of course drifting with it is just about impossible.
As for the Lex, is it a fair comparison? Shouldn't the IS be compared to an ///M and not just a plain 3 series? |

NUNYA, pls stop arguing over looks, I can do the same and say (honestly) that I can't tell apart lexus and toyota from a distance!...and besides, if you do a little research you will find (from toyota themselves) that the lexus is designed and built over a TOYOTA PLATFORM!!! In engineering terms, its essentially a TOYOTA! yeah its go leather and wood interior bla bla bla, but then again so does its cheaper counterpart, the avalon!and price wize its not "up there with the bmw", it may be close, which makes it even MORE of a rip off, when it SHOULD BE closer to the price tag of a regular toyota price-wize... so cut the crap,
