cassette player - cd player swap

I own a very nice 1997 540 sport 6 speed black on gray. My first bmw, a long time mustang guy, i had to change due to a need for 5 seatbelts. Kids ,kids and more kids. Love this car, i am now a beemofile. I would like some info on changing the cassette deck portion of my sound system to the newer single cd. I saw some for sale on ebay but have never seen a newer 5 series inside so i don't know if the rest of the radio is the same or has been changed. The casstte deck has bass,treble,balance,fader,butt ons but the pictures i have seen of the cd show only a single tone button.Any info would be great, i have done a few mods myself and would be happy to help anyone else if i can. Back to the cassette to cd upgrade, i have just discovered that bsw sells a new cd player that is a factory unit and that it will work in my car. I also found out that because i have a 97 i will need a wiring adaptor because i have older style connectors. The cd player is $430.00, and the harness is $135.00. I have seen factory cd players on e-bay for about half this price but i havn't found a cheaper source for the harness. I will keep posting more info as i find it, meanwhile if anyone else knows anything about this please post it here or e-mail me at [e-mail]
