335i twin turbo engine blew up

I had the same problem with my 2007 335i for a year and no one could figure it out. Finally a tech at the delership discovered it was a software issue with the transmission. When you take your foot off the brake sometimes it yanks you like you have been hit from behind. The tech said it was an engagement issue. The torque converter is designed to be disconnected during a stop and reingage when you start. Problem is there is a delay in the engagement when you take your foot off the brake so when it does engage it does so with a jerk. Simple software fix and it has been perfect ever since.

Definitely fuel pump issues on the 335i as everyone knows however overall one of the best cars I have driven and owned. I am not sure why they can't fix but as long as they fix it for free I am ok. A few hundred dollar computer upgrade and you add 100+ HP, sounds like a deal to me.

That NIC issue has been around for years; it's nothing new. Just need to disble the NIC. Poor training of the perssonnel I guess; they should have nailed that the first day.

The first 335/135s came out with the:
1351 7 537 320 HPFP
followed shortly by
1351 7 585 655 HPFP
and my 2009 model had this one:
1351 7 592 881 HPFP
Followed by:
1351 7 596 123 HPFP
These pumps were updated and replaced again due to the high rate of failure with:
1351 7 594 943 HPFP
But these also started to fail and got updated and replaced a couple of months ago (May 2010) with a brand new remanufactured pump:
1351 7 613 933 HPFP

I have a 2009 delivered 135i and I can assure you the problem does exist in Australian delivered models. I had my HPFP replaced under warranty at about 25,000km’s. If you read the many forums on this car you will find the problem is international and not just in the USA. good on them for taking a stand. Oh and BMW australia did not offer to extend any warranty for the replacement pump like they do in the USA.

I have a new 2010 335i X drive and it has been in the shop many times and the HPFP replaced several times. I've had enough of this crap. The car has sat in the dealership for a month in less than 8 months ownership. Sure the dealer fixes it but who needs a $50,000 car that doesn't work! I don't even drive it hard!
Do not buy this car! I heard they replaced the twin with a single Turbo in 2011. Imagine that. Anyone else experience this?

My car has been in the shop for 32 days; I believe him. Worst purchase I made since I was a teenager; even then my old Mercury Capri is a better car than my junky 335i.
Haha! I owned an old Mercury Capri back in the mid-1970s. The car was of German manufacture and was awesome to drive: rear wheel drive and the tightest steering I've ever found in a car. The car had problems though...just overall poor finish and fit. Pieces would fall apart at a touch as in turning on the lights and the entire light switch crumbled to the floor! At least it was easy to fix. And the problems with the alternator and the windshield wiper motors burning up drove me (and my dad) crazy.
Best car ever owned: BMW 2006 330i. 70,000 miles and only regular maintenance visits to the dealer. Knock on wood!

The dealer replaced my vanos solenoid and 2 days later the engine blew up, how is that possible? They also said it needs a new starter before they can find the problem, but the battery has low voltage so that's why it wont start.

I purchased a 2008 BMW in 2009 it was a lease before I bought it with 17,000 miles on it. Drove great no problems until October of 2012. Now I have coil failures and carbon build up at 44,000 miles. Anyone else have this problem? How does carbon build up happen?

335i 2007, nothing but a piece of crap,

problems:

battery cable would not move or start
hpfp lost power almost hit on road
replaced tramission twice after leaks and jerks
water pump and thermostat replaced
tail light assemly replaced on both sides
engine light comes on whenever.
when bumper to bumper warranty expiires you had better
have some type extended warranty.
