Oil consumption

My Audi A4, 2005, has been consuming at least a quart of oil every 2K miles. This seems excessive to me but the dealership did a bunch of tests and told me that this was within spec'. The last time i brought it in, they told me to just top it off and refused to look any further. Does anyone else have a car that burns up that much oil? Doesn't seem right to me. If this is normal for Audis, something is wrong with these engines!

Likewise I've the 2.4 V6 and the consumption figures you are detailing are about right, I've also had things checked out and there are no leaks found. Even my Range Rover V8 doesn't consume oil at this rate!

i have a 2007 audi A4 2T. needs 1qt. oil every 1200 miles @$10 per feeding. dealer changed pcv
did not make a difference. had a 98 with 189,000

What city are you in? Did you read the other topix forum with a number of us in the same situation at the following?

Nothing wrong with your engine. If you use senthitic oil you will not get the right vescosity to seat your oil rings. Change to a non synthetic oil and understand that your engine needs to be run the way that it was designed. Hot. This should seat all your oil rings.

I believe Audi requires the use of an approved full-synthetic oil to maintain your warranty. Wouldn't using an organic oil void the warranty?
