Root is correct. I dont really believe alot of the stuff that motortrend and CR have to say on cars. CR said the caddy sts was an amasing car, very fast. meanwhile, motortrend said it was sluggish and not good at all. Obviously there are differences and bias.

Toyota does make a great car, it really does! as does honda. They make reliable little cars! I dont like them because theyre not american, they are too light and flimsy, and again, theres a stereotype that a man driving a little car is gay. I mean really, how would a full grown man look driving a toyota yaris?

Youre the dumbest one on this forum yet! For one, you cannot spell, and for two, PEOPLE ACTUALLY NEED TRUCKS! farmers need them! I need them! Gas is gonna be $4.00 a gallon? TOUGH SHIT! im still gonna need it! Well if you think its funny that People wont be able to pay for their house because of their huge truck, then I think its funny when I run my huge truck into your honda and your honda gets pulverised and my truck gets a bent bumper!

spoken like a true dumb ass i guess the bigger the truck the smaller the brain you guys with your big worthless trucks should be paying a gas guzzler tax at $25 a gallon that would take care of all the worthless suv's
and big trucks

I truly believe that more than a few Hyundai models will be making the quality list in the next few years. Hyundai has already made great strides in quality, surpassing everyone but Toyota and Honda. Hyundai still needs to improve their MPG numbers in order to be a real player in the world automotive market. The material quality and fit and finish on Hyundais are first rate.

The only company Toyota and Honda fear is Hyundai. At this time there are only three makes on my car buying list: Toyota, Honda, and Hyundai. The most reliable vehicles I ever owned were Nissans, but their quality has taken a nosedive in recent years. Subaru makes EXCELLENT vehicles, but they ALL are all wheel drive. That adds way too much weight and drag. They are definitely the best AWD cars on the road, but very few people need AWD, and this country sure can't spare the extra gas they slurp up.

In car buying, there is only ONE certainty. If the vehicle has a Toyota or Honda badge on it, regardless of the model or price, you cannot get a better vehicle ANYWHERE!

Oh my god your brain must be the size of a marble! Worthless trucks? Well then, you have a house? do you think they delivered the wood to build your house in a small car? Have you gone to the grocery store lately? Do you think they get produce from men riding bicycles? If there were no more trucks left, Americas economy would come to a STAND STILL!!

So face it, trucks will be in demand, whether you like it or not! And also, when one runs into whatever little car you drive, YOU WILL BE HURT and the man in the truck wont be!

Honestly if I didnt need my large suv I wouldnt have it, but unfortunately for you, I do need it, and will continue to drive it. So go ahead, think youre saving the world by looking like a fag in a tiny little car that gets 55 mpg, but Im sticking with my suv.

Are you serious or just screwing around? This has got to be one of the goofiest things I have heard in along time.

I wasn't going to do this, but enough! con-tiki, why not move to Japan! Obviously, nothing that is built by the big three will ever beat a Toyota or Honda. How many recalls did Toyota do in the last year? They are not invincible. If we lose these great companies, the economies of both America and Canada will be hurting for a very long time. You will have layoffs in nearly every industry out there that pays good wages from the railroads to trucking to health care and the list goes on and on. The Japan comment is meant to be funny, not mean. My point is that while I agree that the Japanese brands have done very well and for the most part build a good product, the domestics have done much to close that gap and are in the process of putting out some really good vehicles.(esp. GM)
They deserved to be recognized for that, and if the quality is there with it, these companies deserve a shot at our wallets also.
I agree with Fordman2. There is a saying that if you tell a lie, make it BIG, and repeat it often and it will take on a truth all it's own. I believe this is what we have with so many people believing that Japanese cars in particular, but also German ones, are of far superior quality to American auto's. Growing up my mom had a Honda Accord for a short time. She had it for a short time because it was a pile of junk! The car had this habit of dying at the most inopportune moments. And the dealer could never fix the problem. Then my dad had a Toyota Supra Turbo. Behold, the supposed Holy Grail of reliability. But it was a pile of junk too! After 50,000 miles it had had two water pumps already, fuel pump issues, something called a camshaft synchronizing sensor that took forever to fix and cost a fortune, numerous replacements of the wheel bearings which kept going out, head gasket, leaking sunroof and numerous rattles and squeaks. We also had a Ford Bronco, and it never gave us any problems. Now I currently own a 1998 4WD Ford Expedition, with just shy of 200,000 trouble free miles on it. Original engine, original transmission. The only repairs I've had other than typical maintenance like brake pads, tires, etc., has been an alternator, and the C.D. player. My dad now owns a 2003 Expedition himself and has never done anything except change the oil, and my moms Ford 500 has been perfect as well. Everyone will have different experiences with various makes, but it just isn't true that Japanese cars are far superior to all others.

My neighbor has a Honda Accord and is on his third transmission in 110000 miles and he thinks the car is great. My Ford has had no issues. Hell the brakes lasted almost 55000 miles before I had to change the pads. We have only had a computer issue in an eight year old Jeep. So what would you buy. I was in the autobody industry and the Accord was so expensive to repair because of critical parts issues that they totalled at a much higher rate. Thinner metal and electronics shifted near the front portions of the aprons.

Netiher BIlly, if you want a real car, buy a Fusion, Focus, Cobalt, SRT4, etc, if you are into small cars that is.

The California based JD Powers company gives a more accurate rating of cars.It in includes technical studies in the manufacturing process of cars and actual reports from buyers whereas,Cosumer Reports gives a projection. In June 2007, JD Powers reported that Ford Motor Company has the most top quality vehicles in the industry which includes Ford Mustang,Mercury Milan,LincolnMKZ,LincolnLT, and MazdaMX 5 Miata. For years some import car buyers have used profanity ,vulgarity and negative remarks against the Ameriacan companies. It is kind of like the schoolyard bulley who unfairly belittles others.Even the news media show favortism to the Pacific Rim car companies and negativity toward the American companies. The condition just described is impolite, after all ,GM,Ford ,and Chrysler help build this county! The import buyers will have to now get used to the idea that the American based companies make some of the best cars in the industry as verified by JD Powers!

I personally think all vehicles are good. It is obvious though that japanese vehicles are doing very well. However, American vehicles have really been improving in all aspects in the last few years. The only vehicles I feel are a little behind are European vehicles. Not in design or quality or performance but mainly in reliability. I feel that japanese and American have had them for a long time. Personally I have never owned a European vehicle, but they are obviously the most expensive to repair. Nevertheless, all car manufactures are doing well, and there is no reason to criticize a continent car making abilities just due to ignorance.
