2008 Acura TL Type-S

I have bought 2008 Acura TL type S and i have experienced problems when trying to shift in to third gear. It's just sometimes it won't go in and you really have to force it. Some times it will pop back into nuetral and some times it the car will grind gears. I have taken back to the dealer one time and they said that the car was not grinding gears and shifted into third perfectly fine. But i still receive problems with it even when i took it off the lot right after they told me. i have tried to live with it but i just cant take it any more. I had to pay almost $40,000 for this car and should not have to deal with it. I have driven stick since i was 16 and have never had a problem like this with my Chevorlet, Nissan, and Volkswagon. I am really turned off from Acura because of this experience. Has anyone had a dealer that has fixed this. I want to know what to say so i can get it fixed. Hey Camaro... I have the TL also. And I have the same problem but I am used to it. I had a Nissan before which had the same problem. Actually, the problem only happens during the first 30 min or so that you have turned the car on. Basically it only happens when the engine is still cold even if you warm it up for a good amount of time. I know that it only happens then because my last car did the same thing. Just make sure you have the third gear in before you let go of the clutch for the first 30 min or so that you have turned on your car, and you will be fine. Unless u have already scratched the gear many times, then you will have a real problem. But if you have noticed, it doesn't have that problem at any other time right> ?

I am having same problem. Dealer said they are checking to see if they can a GM transmission fluid that they hear works. This may effect the warranty. Let me know if you come up with anything. I am not having fun yet.

Same problem with my BRAND NEW 2008 TL type S. Dealer is investigating. 3rd gear is the problem. I agree with above that i've been driving HONDA transmissions for 14 years and never had this problem. I'll pass on any help. My email is [e-mail] for help/advice.

My 2008 TL type S also had transmission problem with the 3rd gear. So I took it in for repair. The dealer worked on the car for two days. He replaced the clutch, synchro, 2nd and 3rd gears. The forward gears became super smooth, but now sometimes I cannot put the car in reverse. I have had people push the car back to get out of parking spaces because I cannot put the car in reverse.

Great news: Acura of Poughkeepsie fixed my transmission problems. Car runs beautifully. Problem with putting car in reverse was malfunctioning solenoid.

I recently took my 2008 Type-S to Pohanka Acura in Chantily VA and they told me that Acura is developing a fix for this that should be out in a couple of months. When I told the service writer that I had shifting problems, he said, "Third gear?" They are obviously aware.

I live outside Philadelphia. I just took my TL Type S in today with this exact problem. The dealer is aware of the issue and the said that they can fix it - they needed to order parts and should be repaired in 2-3 days.

I have 2008 TL type S. I have problem with the brakes... It makes weird noise right before complete stop and when I let go of the brake. It is constant and worse time to time.
I took it to the dealer and they replaced the Rotor and the pads. but still have problem with noise.
Do anyone have similar problems???

Yes, I also have this problem with my 2008 TL Type S. Noticed it the very first day of ownership. I took it to Pohanka Acura in Chantilly, VA, and the service guys said that this is normal for all Acura TL's. He then proceeded to reproduce this brake noise in other TL's that were at the dealership. He also said that it may also be due to brake dust, and that the Brembo brakes were sensitive to that (?). Not very satisfied with that answer, to be honest with you. Anyone else have any comments on this? PS. My bro's TSX's brakes are virtually silent!

I am taking my 2008 TL type-S back to the dealer so they can take a look at the brakes again.
The loaner car I had last time was TSX 2009 and it had a perfect brakes with no noise. I inquired them about this difference and they told me they are just different types of brakes. Sincer they replaced the rotor and pads, the problem persisted. Recently, they resurface the rotor and pads along with relubricate the unit. Now, the noise is still there but sometimes it is quite. I am not 100 satisfied with this and taking my TL TypeS back next week to see what they can do.
Brembo brake systme sucks~
I rather have base line TSX brake than big name brake which make annoying noise.
I will post the update after I talk to the dealership~

I have the same problem with my 2008 Acura TL Type S. yesterday I took it to the dealer and they replaced the brake pad. It cost me $272. They said the pad has been worn out. I have only 15,000 K on it. It is ridiculous

You better get your money back...
I took my TL type S to the dealer and they convinced me that there are no functional defect and it is 'Normal' for Type S to make that kinda breaking noise on complete stop. I am extremely disappointed by the quality of their break system and their inadequate answer to my concern.
I decided to get rid of my TL in few years and never but Acura again...

Before all this, they replaced my pads, rotor, but never charged me anything...

I think you should get your money back...

2006 TSX
i have had various transmission probs since getting this car. The dealership to their credit last spring wint into the tranny, and replace 1st-2nd syncro which was the problem and the 3rd-4th syncro, The problem I have now and getting worse is that it sometimes goes into 3rd reluctantly or not at all and with fourth the same though to a lesser extent. left the vehical with the dealership for the weekend so someone there could drive it and they claim there is nothing wrong. The lease payments on this car are not exactly timy and for this money I expect it to work properly. I fully understand anything mechanical can break and that is fine but I would like it fixed without argument when that happens. If I wanted to be told everything is normal I could have got a Dodge product.

2007 Acura TL Type S - front brake pads replaced at 18,000 miles!!! and the dealer tells me this is normal .... ridiculous - anyone else have this problem and if so what course of action did you take?
