To Anybody: Has anyone had any problems with the radio reception on a 2001 MDX. I brought my car at 26,000 miles. The CD player/changer is ok, but the reception on the AM band is horrible. I was wondering if this was a common problem?

I have a 2001 MDX, bought it new. I get varying reception on my AM stations. I had a loaner car (TL) recently and it had great AM reception. Not sure what the issue is.

Yes, if you have anything plugged into the power outlet, such as a cell phone, the AM ereception is horrible. Is that true for you?

My wife has a 2004 TL and has no problems.

Tell your service manager that there is a service instruction out that explains the trouble to be a connection in the antenna wire. The connection is in the rear section of the roof near the third tail light. When this connection is cleaned and reconnected there is considerable improvement. I have to tell you that you may not get the same reception as your wifes TL as my daughter also has 04 TL and it is superior to the MDX. Remember it has a premium system not available on early MDX's.

I have a 2002 MDX with Bose system and AM reception is the worst I have ever had in any car I have ever owned--and I have owned some junky cars!

I just bought a used 2002 MDX and my CD player and FM radio work fine. But my AM radio got just static. I can't even get 1 station. If it is the antena, then I would think the FM radio would not work either. Any help would greatly apprenciated, since I need my NPR station.

Same issue...01 MDX with very poor AM reception in the Philly area. Took it to the delaer twice and both times the ground wire was broke. They repaired them both times for free but not the problem is back. Hard to believe a $40K plus SUV can't get AM radio.

On my 2001 MDX, I get essentially zero AM reception and weak FM reception. The reception is a lot better when the engine is turned off(but what good is that?!?) I recently had the Acura dealer look at it. They said they would have to send the car to a radio shop who would take out the radio and fix or replace it. But that was going to be overly expensive for a vehicle with 72k miles. So, I decided to just live with the problem, although it is very disappointing to have on an Acura (my Fords never have had such problems!)

My 2001 Acura TL with the Bose system has started to have problems just recently. I don't get any AM stations whatsoever but, get this, it's only on extremely hot days. It will usually work fine for about 20 minutes and then quickly goes to static. Let the car cool off, and it seems to be okay. Very strange.

I bought my 2001 as "certified new" in june 2005. One of the punch list items I returned the car for was this AM static problem. The Service Mgr said it was a common problem on the MDX and could be fixed by cleaning the antenna connection and packing the connection with some sort of electrical goop. The reception improved dramatically, but has now has deteriorated again. So I called the Service Mgr last week, but since my warranty expired now they want to charge me $110.00 bucks! I'm thinking about putting the $100 bucks towards an after market radio. Has anyone done this? Will I have the same problem because of the poor antenna connection? If anyone knows, please reply..thanks!

Same problem I'm having w/2001 TL - did you find a solution? Replaced HU (for other reasons too), w/no change. Some posts elsewhere seen to suggest either a corroded antenna connector or a signal amp going bad - but I'm not sure where to find that.

It was hot yesterday and it's 97 degrees here today, and our 2001 TL has exactly the same problem with AM reception fading and then cutting out completely about 15 minutes into a draive, not affecting FM. We have not had the problem in previous summers.
