And why cannot GM start remaking the metro? The used ones are being snapped up.

I used to have a metro. Good car but had a 1-star crash test rating. I traded it on the durango. Just read an article in the USA today that said my rusty, dented geo is now worth upwards of 4 grand.

People should be looking to the mid 1990's Saturn SL1's and SC1's.....as they'll deliver 42mpg, offer better styling and interior space, handle way better, and never rust out. Insurance is also wicked cheap.

Cars are required to have many more components and government required safety/emissions equipment. Frankly, they are heavier.

The feds need to back off on that. Its my right as an american to drive something that can get flattened by a semi.

My metro wasnt a cool car, or a nice car, but it would get me around with great gas mileage. Plus I could load greasy tools and junk into it without thinking twice. It also had alot of get up and go for such a tiny car.

And even if I was driving a 1/2 ton pickup, it could still get flattened by a semi.

Chevy has the Sprint Turbo back in the day which could be tuned for some serious power-to-weight!
