A few years ago a company that was a spinoff of Caterpillar designed a lead carbon battery. This company Firefly claimed the lead carbon battery would not be prone to the sulfation of standard lead acid batteries, could be discharged deeply and not be damaged like the old lead acid batteries. The product line was called the Oasys battery. There was some limited product released to trucking companies to use in big rigs. A second generation battery was in the works that would have been about half the weight of a standard lead acid battery. Then the company went bankrupt. What does CPT have that Caterpillar/Firefly didn't have? If this is a viable technology, one could use it for remote radio, telemetry sites, remote solar PV powered sites and UPS units that are common place. The market is there, where's the product?
