Help! My transmission went out! I just received information that was in the 2004 St. Louis Business Journal, that Ford Motor Co. was sending out 740,000 owners of 2004 Ford Explorers and Mountaineer of transmission problems. I was not informed, nor did my dealer tell me when I took in almost 2 yrs. ago. Again, I took in my SUV to my dealer, my SUV was delaying from park to reverse, and making a clunk noise My dealer just told me that my transmission needs to be replaced. I care for my mother with Alzheimers, and depend on my SUV. What can I do?

Sorry to hear, but you are one of millions out there who've been subjected to drivetrain issues with a domestic SUV. There are many help groups out there to assist you through this. Getting the transmission fixed just costs money, but getting your trust for Ford back will take much more.

I have a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer. This just started: the brake lights stay on all the time, even after I turn it off and lock it.
Anyone else had this problem?
Thank you.

I had this problem on a old Ford 150, try to use your foot to lift the brake pedal & see if it works until you get it fixed.
