We can all agree on this:

No matter what side of the fence you are, no matter the size of the growing market, no matter what car you love or hate, in this segment Volt is the #1 seller three years running.

Disclaimer:
I will be happy if/when another car takes that spot.

The fact remains that drivers of EVs are not paying their fair share of gasoline taxes to maintain the nation's highways.

That's very true...

If automakers do not offer steep discounts on EVs they will not be able to meet increasingly strict state and federal requirements.

The depreciation cost for cars like the obamamobile and other expensive cars utilizing technologies that will quickly become obsolete are depreciating at a rapid pace.

Not so good mileage today because gas dropped a little bit. Gas is at $3.85

Only drove 17.2 miles today.

4.0 kwh's used.

4.3 miles per kwh.

$0.088 per kwh

2 cents per mile.

Cost for today -$0.34

Only got 192 mpg.

A little disappointing, but I'll take it.

I feel like a sucker.

The Detroit News reports that used EV prices will fall 30% in 2013.

"A 2011 Chevrolet Volt with a manufacturer's suggested retail price of about $40,000 has fallen in value to about $21,235, or 49 percent of the original value." http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20130619/A... .

Of course the taxpayers absorbed more than half of the losses on the obamamobile over the two year period that the car lost half of its value.

It's unclear if taxpayers will take the hit as Obama continues to try and funnel taxpayer funds into the Volt and BM via Ally Financial.

It's the obama admin that is trying toget the gas prices to rise over $6 a gallon in order to reach price parity with gas-powered cars in its class.

Try using your brain. The more electric cars on the road .... the more gas is not used.

Ergo, gas will come down in price.

Sheeeeeesh!!!!!!

That's 3rd grade math.

More 3rd grade math.

Let's see ... an average CA Volt owner paid $28,000 for their Volt. They will save $1,500 a year. In 7 years, that will be $10,500 saved,(gas savings minus charging costs), bringing the price down to $17,500.

An average gas car owner paid $22,000 for their 25 mpg car. In 7 years, they will have paid $11,000 for gas. That brings the price up to $33,000.

So,$33,000 minus $17,500 is a $15,500 difference.

Hmmmmm ... what was that about depreciation?

PS, they have depreciated mostly because prices are going down. Who cares? Answer, only haters.

If you want to pay $33,000 for a $22,000 car, that's fine, but that car will only be worth $10,000 in 7 years. Meaning, you paid $33,000 for a $10,000 car. I'm not even throwing in the extra $1,000 for mtc. that you pay.

Enjoy the gas station.

Don't forget the $50 billion per year spent on protecting your gas.

http://www.iags.org/costofoil.html

That money you spend at the pump goes to terrorists. Talk about anti-American.

My fuel is 100% made in America natural gas that comes down the electrical wires.

I pay for your fuel via my taxes. A lot more than you pay for mine. Crybabies.

That's even if obama keep pumping Tax Payer money into the market that artificially inflates the numbers.

Speaking of 3rd grade math...

that's exactly why ca is going bankrupted.

Big brother GM is tracking every move you make. While you're hanging around the Chevy dealer's garage this weekend, why don't you have OnStar installed up your azz.

I offer only one comment about the "Grade3 Math" being touted as gospel here.

Yup, that so called "Grade Three Math" really was produced by someone with "Grade Three" qualifications.

From the looks of it, he didn't get much further in his academic accomplishments!!

Gospel??

It ain't!!
