Before responding to any of that, I would like to see what Jimmy has to say about my questions.
Remember Root, I wasn't even here, and he popped that confrontational post.
And be honest, his post wasn't exactly sweetness and light.
He had a reason for saying what he did,.
There was a message there, and he knows that.
If he can question my words, that cuts both ways.
Root, I respect civility, and will always treat civility with respect.
But when anyone comes at me aggressively, I'll respond in kind.
And without exception, I've been on the receiving end and responded.
Never started a battle, but always ready to do battle when prompted.
Well I went back and looked and didnít see anything the man wrote that was bad or out of line. Whatever

Not an unexpected comment from you Root.
I guess it's a matter of discernment.
Depends on the intent of the discerner.
Just like you often say about words being offensive to Americans, while they may not have the same connotation to others.
In my opinion, Jimmy was sending a message.
No doubt about that--the message was clear in its intent.
Otherwise what he said had no meaning whatsoever.
Some folks are very good at sending innocent looking nasty messages.
Jimmy is clearly a practitioner.
I'm not wrong.

So let's put all the angst aside for a minute.
Question...
Who did you have in mind in making the statement "People who get online to trash talk a product they think is irrelevant is the epitome of silly"?
You said that for a reason.
What was the reason?
That comment was directed at the slew of negative posts toward the Volt on that page and the prior. It was not directed at you and it didn't have a hidden meaning. Individuals that demean products on the internet usually have some type of vendetta or malfunction that gives no credibility to their argument. I am a firm believer of open markets and letting a product earn its reputation on its own merits. We received the same type of criticism after purchasing our Prius. Individuals that wish to bad mouth a product they deem useless or worthless are makes zero sense. If you discern that point it's your mistake.

So Jimmy, you admit you were sending a message.
And it was confrontational.
So you got one back.
I guess that makes us even.
Thank you for your candidness.

One more thing Jimmy.
The fact that you criticized those you feel were bad mouthing Volt---could that be interpreted that criticizing them really just puts you at their level?
You folks have railed at me for not saying anything to them, but my thinking is by doing so you just stoop to their level.
Regardless, in spite of all the criticism thrown their way, not much has changed, right?

Are you playing games? No message was sent to anyone. I made a statement based off an observation. You for unknown reasons thought I was talking to you and launched an attack at me. That's what happened here. You should apologize. I have no earthly idea what your second comment refers to.

Well, my response was an olive branch.
Obviously you didn't see it that way.
Your problem, not mine.
We're done.

An olive branch would've been an apology for the attacks on Sunday and yesterday.

Once again:

Jim Smatters's comment was a comment in general. No names. And only for those who don't like the Volt, but still waste time thinking about it.

It's like someone saying, "hey, don't put gravy on my mashed potatoes" and then spending the next 5 hours spewing on how he hates gravy. After about 5 minutes, nobody wants to hear it.

However:

A certain person says "don't get me wrong, I like the Volt"

So:

Jim's statement didn't include him.

So:

He either is lying when he says he doesn't like the Volt, or he is just an a-hole.

I really don't know. I would like to think that he made a mistake and he responded, thinking Jim attacked him. If he looked at it that way, he would settle down and not be an a-hole.

Also ... the Volt is the best car I've ever owned. Wouldn't trade my two Cadillacs for it. It rides smoother and quieter than they did.

Hey Pete. Are you the guy that went on the Kelly Blue Book Volt Owners forum and entered 5 straight "I hate my Volt" rantings?

A guy from MI claimed he owned the Volt but went into the rantings of the Volt Owners Of America Club. The bail out, the subsidies, the fires.

Why would 5 people from MI buy the Volt when they already hate it?

Was that you???????

I think it was.

Can't you see ... it will never end. He wants this forum for himself. I chose to not answer him.

If you will notice, I haven't answered him directly for about 3 pages.

He hasn't attacked me.

Perhaps others should follow suit.

If all it takes is an apology, then consider it done.
That said, if all the kerfuffle about only one three line post is any indication, you folks weren't looking for an apology.
More likely you were looking for an opportunity.

A friendly reminder to all.
This thread is about cars, not about opportunities for calling people a-holes.
That expression portends far more malicious impact than "Bozo".
I may be direct, but never sleazy.
