I find that Volt haters are generally followers. They are told by Rush and Fox whether to like the Volt or not. Of course, Fox now hates the Volt.

Once again, here is a little video from about 5 years ago. Fox, O'Reilly, Neil, etc, all loved the concept of the Volt. They wanted big gov. to force auto makers to make a percentage of electrics, hybrids, etc. They wanted big gov. to give tax credits and subsidies for these cars. Here is O'Reilly speaking out of the side of his mouth that he no longer uses.

Oh ... and by the way. Another Volt lie. Haters state that Obama is forcing the military to buy Volts. I forgot to mention before, those bills that the Bush presidents signed for credits and subsidies for electrics and plug ins .... there was also a clause mandating the military to buy electrics and hybrids.

I'll find it again and post it.

And talk about moving on. What is it that makes you people stick to hating one car? It's just a car. The average tax payer paid $1 in taxes for the Volt's share of the technology. There have been 35,000 Volts sold. Divide that $1.00 by 35,000 and you get less than 1/35,000 of a dollar each hater paid for MY personal Volt. Talk about being all worked up for nothing.

Fox News: Total subsidies for electrics =$6.5 billion.$11 per taxpayer. About 135 million tax payers. GM's share,$2.7 billion.=$5 per taxpayer. That $5 is for the technology which is being shared by 4 cars ATT.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/01/09/el...

If I can just reach one hater with that last little bit of logic, and if he or she can just move on with their lives, then I have fulfilled my life's work. HAHAHAHA.

I'm a conservative and love the Volt. It has nothing to do with political affiliation, itís a car and it was designed by conservatives. It's a conservative car.

And how do you know it was designed by conservatives?
By the way, a Buick is a conservative car. The Volt is not. A Toyota Avalon is a conservative car. A Prius is not.

Far too much conjecture and presumptuous speculation!!
Seems both Volt promoters and Toyota demeaners have suffered serious lapses of credibility.
This thread has really gone off the rails!!
Not even funny anymore.

Now, now, Al.
You're going to have to learn to be more civil.
Life in the tough part of Pittsburg must be causing you some angst.
For a retired guy, you shouldn't take things so seriously---it's just going to make you more miserable.
Try talking about cars, you'll feel better

Another fact is:

Bob Lutz is a conservative Republican. He was the driving force behind the Volt.

He has moved on to Via Motors which makes the 100 mpg full sized pick-up truck.

By the it's very definition, conservative means to conserve. Why is it a good thing to want smaller, conservative government, but it is a bad thing to use less gas?

Think about it.

Not even a good try. The lab that developed the Volt battery says that the battery will be lighter and have about 50% more range in just a few years.

However, GM plans to keep the 40 mile range and use lighter batteries. That will make the car much cheaper. In just a few years, a battery with the same weight as the current battery will have an 80 mile range. Keeping the range at 40 miles will mean a battery with half the weight and half the cost. Considering that the battery will naturally cost less anyway, you are talking about 60% less battery cost.

Did you even read the article you referred us to? You should read more than just the headlines.

This is the last paragraph:

"In the lead-up to the first Volt launch, an earlier generation of Volt engineers had said firmly that 40 miles was the right distance to maximize electric range which keeping costs contained. Future Volts, they said, would retain that 40-mile distance but with smaller, cheaper battery packs."

Honda's and Toyota's are the most traded in cars for the Volt. Those Volt owners love their Volts more than they did their Honda's and Toyota's.

Very funny.

ps the 3rd most traded in car is the BMW 3 series.
