Hi,
The car is in perfect condition, no electric problems, no accidents/liens/loans. No scratches, never been repainted. I have all the car manuals, title, documents. I'm selling this car because my child of only 19 died 4 months ago in a car accident,a drunk driver hit him and his fiancee. He was with his fiance's car coming to our home at his little brother birthday of 10 years old. The car belonged to my son and it brings me bad memories and that's the reason I want to sell it. The last price is $1,936. Me and my husband travel a lot with our business and we want to make this deal through eBay's Buyer Protection Program.I just need your full name, full shipping address, home/cell # so I can open a case.(with no further obligation or fees).eBay will contact you with all the Transaction/shipping details you will need.We will take care of the shipping so don't worry.
We hope to hear soon from you.

Hi again,
Thank you, the car is located in Great Falls MT at DAS ( Dependable Auto Shippers ) headquarters, in the container, sealed and ready for shipping. You will have 10 days so you can inspect the car. Once you have inspected the car and decided to keep it, you will confirm your decision to eBay and only then they will re-route the money in to my account, but if by any reason, you won't be satisfied with the car you can return it back for a full refund of your money. I will take care of the shipping, don't worry. You will receive the car with all the necessary papers (clear title, bill of sale, user’s manual, insurance etc).
Just get back with your full name and full shipping address and I will get everything started as soon as possible, then eBay will contact you with further instructions.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Thanks a lot!
.

I just had this email sent to me this last weekend they almost got me too.

Hi,
The car is in perfect condition, no electric problems, no
accidents/liens/loans. No scratches, never been repainted. I have all the
car manuals, title, documents. I'm selling this beautiful 2004 Acura TL
because my daughter is in hospital, is very sick and I need money for
treatment. The total price is $1,860 including delivery and handling to
your address. I am desperate and I need to sell it fast, before 28th of
February that being the reason for selling it so low. My husband and I
divorced last month, after the divorce I was awarded the car.
Because i'm very busy with my daughter I decided to sell it online through
eBay because this protects both: buyer&seller. Also they will give you 10
days inspection period (test drive),and in the mean time, offers me the
guarantee that you have the amount needed to buy it. If the car is not like
I described they will ship it back on my expense and you will get a full
refund. All documents, clear title and a bill of sale on your name will
come along with the car. Let me know if you are still interested.
Primary Information about this vehicle:
Mileage 93,000
Body Style Sedan
Exterior Color White
Interior Color Tan
Engine 6 Cylinder Gasoline
Transmission Automatic
Drive Type 2 wheel drive - front
Fuel Type Gasoline

Hello,

This email was just reeived last night. This was a vehicle posted on Craigs List. The photo mysteriously disappeared. I'm so glad I read this blog.

Thank you for your interest in buying the 2002 Bmw 330i that I have for sale and thank you for your email. The price that I'm asking is $2150. The car has: Mileage: 85,235 miles, Transmission: Automatic, Vehicle title: Clear. Options: air conditioning, cruise control and a lot of extras. Perfect running condition.
I'm selling the car because my 22 years old son died 3 months ago in a car accident. A drunk driver hit him and his fiancé(not with this one). It was his, it brings me bad memories and now me and my husband decided to sell it. Please let me know if you are interested and where are you located. Thank you.

Sincerely,

SCAM today March 11, 2014
Audi S5 2009
He is now posing as LIEUTENANT GENERAL RUSSELL J. HANDY,
His newest scam is he is in Alaska and when you look up the name LIEUTENANT GENERAL RUSSELL J. HANDY is a legit Hero BUTT that's where he gets you...! If you dig a bit you will see there is NO "DAS" dependable auto shippers in Great Falls Montana and cars are not kept or "crated" and ready for shipment, a car carrier just picks them up..
Same story but this time it's his so s car and he died of Cancer ! The car is in Montana but Carfax shows it in Florida, but this guy is really a great CON he puts where it was last serviced and it checks out, yes the car was serviced there but when you find out who just serviced it, it was not him but the real owner of the Car who still has it in Florida...
Here is what he writes to wrap up the deal :::
"Hello again,
The car has clear title and the price is $16,000.
The car is already at the delivery company in Great Falls, MT crated and ready for delivery. I have setup this sale with eBay so this deal must go through them.
Unfortunately I'm not near you so I can't meet in person with you so this is the reason why I chose to sell my car on internet.
In order to complete this deal the payment must be sent to eBay. As soon as they receive the payment will notify me to start with delivery. The delivery cost is included in the price. The delivery company is DAS (dependable auto shippers)
eBay will not release the payment to me until you receive and inspect the car (you have 10 days for inspection). If the car is not in same condition as I said you will ship it back on my expense and eBay will send you a full refund. But I assure you won't be the case. Now, if you are serious about this and want to move forward, just mail me back with:
- Your Full Name - Required by eBay (You'll receive important guidelines + payment instructions from them.)
- Your Delivery Address and Cell Phone #
As soon as I will receive the details from you, I will forward them to eBay and declare you as the buyer. They will contact you with further information regarding payment and delivery.
Thanks you
Lt. Gen. Russell J. Handy
PS:The car comes with all the documents ( title, bill of sale, full service records, etc.) It has a clear title in my name. The title will be signed into your name as soon as the payment will be sent to eBay."

Similar situation happened to me, here's the email thread after I showed interest in the 05 Toyota Camry. When viewing the pictures associated with the link you quickly realize that the seller is in Great Falls Montana, and yet the pictures are taken in some lush almost tropical environment.

Message:

Hi again,
Please take a few moments and read my email carefully, I know it's long, but I'll explain the transaction in detail. The car is located at Royal Auto Shipping company in Great Falls Montana already crated and ready to be delivered to the next owner. Since the car is there you can't go to claim it yourself. The Royal staff will ship it to your location within 2-3 days in safe conditions also the car is insured during the whole process. Let me explain how this eBay transaction works.
1. Buyer and seller reach an agreement(price and delivery conditions).
2. Buyer sends the money to eBay.
3. eBay confirms to seller the amount has been received.
4. Royal and eBay performs the required services(shipping, insurance).
5. Buyer accepts delivery and informs eBay about the acceptance.
6. eBay releases the money to seller.
Royal Auto Shipping is eBay affiliated, eBay handles the financial part, they will keep your money into a protection account until you get and inspect the car for 5 days while your money is still safely held by eBay. Only if the car will pass your inspection, they will release the money. If by any reason, you reject the car (I assure this will not happen since it's in immaculate condition) it will be shipped back to me on my expense and eBay will refund you the full price within 24 hours after your request.

I'm ready to start the process if you agree my sale terms and open a case with eBay. If so add to your next email your complete contact info: Name, Shipping Address and Phone# to start the eBay process.

Thank god for these comments. I got the same scam today. Good thing I google searched. It seemed way too good to be true. People in this world are awful. Here is the email:

I'm amazed its been 2 years since I started this thread about the car thieves on craigslist. I see by the last few post that their no longer using the death of a child but are now saying their daughter is in the hospital, and is very sick and they need money for treatment. Just the cost of shipping a vehicle throws up all the red flags needed to see it's a scam. I was so upset back in 2012 when I first seen their add on craigslist that for a few months I made a bunch of throw away e-mail addresses and played along to see how far they would take the scam. I even told them one time what good luck for me I lived in the very city they said the car was being shipped from so that would save them a bunch of money. It anyone has ever had anything shipped that requires being crated and delivered by a semi you know it's more than what there asking for these cars. But what really pissed me off was using a Childs death. I know they must have gotten a few people or they would have moved on to a different scam lets hope we that didn't get scammed out number them by at least 100 to 1.
