New beginning: A smaller, leaner GM

General Motors ' marriage to the U.S. government is expected to be sealed Friday, and although the assets being sold out of bankruptcy court will create a "New GM ," a lot will stay the same.

About time Obama Motor Company #2 emerged. It was just a matter of time waiting for the government to get their judge to steal it as they did at Chrysler.
As I contemplate buying our next two cars later this year I am trying to decide whether to buy a Ford, or a Toyota. I realize buying a GM or Chrysler product would be like helping to pay back my tax money, and others, as well as China for the cars, but I still prefer private industry and I could care less if either GM or Chrysler went belly up as they should with the crap they have been "trying" to sell which no one wanted to buy.
Anyway, I am feel a little safer that Ford or Toyota will be around to honor their warranty and other obligations. I hope I am correct and either way I am sure I will get a better product.

how do they figure it will be leaner when every politician in washington will be taking a paycheck out. i guess they do believe the people are that stupid. yes they will sell cars because we will be forced to buy them by the gov.

GM, aka Government Motors, has an interesting new bed partner.

With Congress in the Boardroom, GM is handcuffed to a decision maker that has never made a profit and rarely balanced a budget.
Let alone ever manufactured an innovative business product.
In a way I feel sorry for GM, but they should have known what they were getting into.

As far as a smaller, leaner GM, get a load of this P.O.S. they are touting as a new product with the partnership of Segway!
It looks like an enclosed wheelchair with electronic propulsion, the Pelosi-mobile!

Sounds more and more like Venezuela and less like the USA everyday. I would not be surprised if Chavez is not an honorary board member. If anyone should be on the board it is Premier Wen Jiabao, as the Chinese were the ones that keep bailing out the US. The land of the free and the home of the brave are actually the poorest country on the planet. They are the most indebted to others. While the Berlin Wall came down and the USSR fell, China crept up and really have the greatest control over the world economy than anyone else. It is just a wait and see when the US does a AIG/GM and declares bankruptcy or when China says enough is enough and refuses to bank roll the US further.

Time will tell, but socialism is alive and prospering world wide, especially in the US.
