The first two VW Beetles were sold in the U.S. in 1949, giving the car and its maker, Volkswagen, just enough foothold to build a strong brand and big presence.

Had a few of them growing up...easiest car i ever worked on....though, not quite a fuel efficient as many of today's cars.....Tough as hell, great in snow and ice....67 was, i believe the best year....
