why do people think the solution is always more practice?

I've had my license for almost 5 years, but I'm not a very good driver. I've practiced and practiced, but I'm just not very good.
When I explain this to people, they tell me I just need more practice.
But if I've already practiced my ass off, how on earth would more practice help?
Why do people always say the solution is more practice? Why can't other people grasp the idea that I just wasn't meant to drive?
