You must have gotten that from some lying left-wing website. NM does 'NOT' issue ssm licenses...sorry. Some are trying, but they are failing...as they will continue to do...nice try...
First.....I got the information from a local paper in New Mexico.....here it is:
Here is my post from a different thread:

As I read the article.......I know this has been tried before and the specific county clerk was sued by the State:
Marriage/Civil Unions
Currently in New Mexico, same-sex couples are not issued marriage licenses. In February 2004, one county clerk issued and recorded 64 marriage licenses to same-sex couples. The Supreme Court of New Mexico granted an order restraining that specific county clerk from issuing more licenses to same-sex couples pending the lower court’s resolution of the dispute. The lawsuit to restrain the county clerk was later dismissed without any decision being rendered after that clerk’s term of office ended. As of April 2005, these 64 licenses have not been challenged, nor has any other clerk issued more.

What business is it of yours whether two consenting unrelated adults choose to get married?
As much business as I choose to make it. I'm a citizen too. My voice counts too. Who are you to ask me who I am????
Do you regularly visit local churches, synagogues, marriage chapels, and city halls to make sure that the marriages there meet with your approval? What do you do if the couple doesn't meet with your approval?
Why would I do that???? I'm not crazy....

FaFoxy, except for your two men and two women example, all of the rest are still a man and a woman, just as biracial marriages are. Despite some of those examples being odious to a lot of folks, they still do not change the actual definition of marriage - a union of a man and a woman. Only "gay marriage" changes that definition. And, of course, the polyamory "marriages" that are sure to be next because once the definition is changed, anything is possible.
More baloney.

MANY people thought inter-racial couples marrying DID change the "definition of marriage" from the same-race definition they knew all their lives.

They got over it or died.

So will you.

Personally, I don't care if you are either...you expressed your adoration of the Canadian laws, so I suggestion you move there. Isn't it funny that you are "Canadian", yet you live in the USA??? Don't tell us what 'we' should do...

And yet 1st cousin marriages and incest were the norm in the conservative southern states.....

Since when do people's 'thoughts' make it reality??? It doesn't matter what people 'thought'.

The fact is no matter what little 'straw' you pluck from the history of marriage....marriage first and foremost began with the male/female component. That is the REAL TRUE history of universal marriage throughout the age of time.

Of course it won't end. This isn't about rights or discrimination, it's about the definition of marriage and whether or not it should be changed and the answer is no.

Sounds like a 'defeated' statement to me...maybe you all aren't as 'dum-b' as you pretend to be...
For all intents & purposes the "debate" over same-sex couples marrying dies out with the current over 65 generation.

Within a decade you won't be able to get a majority vote anywhere in the country to ban same-sex couples from marrying, with the possible exception of the deep deep confederate states like Alabama & Mississippi.

Considering Alabama finally voted in 2000 to remove their ban on inter-racial couples marrying, I guess that wouldn't be that big of a suprise.

The anti-gays will likely be concentrated in 2 or 3 holdout states where we can keep an eye on them until they eventually die out too.

Read the article.......they were still legal and valid in April of 2005......my guess is they still are today, even if you can't handle that fact......but be prepared......New Mexico will have Marriage Equality.....and sooner than you'd like!!!

Then you shouldn't get married to someone of the same sex.

And if you bothered to acquaint yourself with history, you'd know that racist definitions of marriage (i.e. only marriages where the two partners were of the same race were allowed) were long considered the norm. Interracial marriages were only legalized in 1967 in the USA! It took a Supreme Court decision striking down the various states' laws against interracial marriage to change things.

Sound familiar?

Exactly. Just as your belief that same-sex couples getting married in any way redefines marriage is merely your opinion.

You are free to believe whatever you want.

Oh, and next year your fellow Oregonians (Oregonites?) will vote to overturn your state ban and join the marriage equality club!
