General Motors has announced that they are recalling certain software intended for 2015 vehicles that was installed by service centers into model year 2014 GMC Sierras equipped with Allison A1000 transmissions. They stated that the incorrect software may cause the transmission indicator not to display the gear position “1″ has been selected.

The transmission position indicator may not show that the transmission is in First gear and not Drive. If the driver pulls into traffic, the vehicle’s speed would be limited, resulted in an increased risk of a crash. GM will notify owners, and dealers will upload the correct transmission software, free of charge. Owners may contact GMC at 1-800-462-8782.

2014 GMC Sierra and Silverado 1500s both have another two recalls.
One is for seat restraints and the other is for reflashing the cylinder deactivation software.
