This is so true! In fact, even job recruiting/searching is widely done through social media! For example, companies like Accenture and Informatica Corp. are using this popular Jobs4Me Austin page to recruit potential employees! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Jobs4me-Austin/...

Yes, the roleof social media from the consumers mind is the social proof. If you are looking to buy something from awebsite (or s brand) which you never heard of before, you might visit their facebook fan page and see how many fans they have. If they have only 20 fans, this low social proof will effect negatevly on your buying decission, but if they would have 20000 this might give you the confidence that they are "worth" to buy from.

How many more social media outlets will appear in the nest year? Is social media replacing everything else? I read somewhere that many young folks never leave facebook. They assume Facebook IS the internet. Kind of like what AOL used to try to do years ago. Thoughts? Posted by..Brett Loebel

It's true my blog has grown thanks to twitter. Also to promote my blog I find useful to send Tweets to people that I consider might be interested in it. There is an app called Marketie for social media marketing build for the iPhone, that helps me to send those automated tweets. You can find it at: http://itunes.com/apps/marketie The official site: http://marketie.polarux.com
