Bruce Garrison forged the names of at least three Travis County judges on bonds for his clients, according to warrants for his arrest.

An Austin defense attorney who was charged in August with theft and drug possession is now wanted by police for forging the names of three Travis County judges to personal bonds, according to court documents.
Bruce Phillip Garrison, 37, is accused of forging the signatures of District Judge Jon Wisser, Judge Jan Breland and Judge Julie Kocurek. He faces three counts of tampering with a governmental record, a felony that carries a sentence of 2 to 20 years, and three counts of forgery, a felony that carries a sentence of 2 to 10 years. Each charge carries a bond of $10,000.
The district attorney's office investigated the case because of the nature of the crime.
Garrison is not in custody. He did not return calls to his law firm, Garrison, Attorney at Law, on Tuesday afternoon.
The affidavits say that Judge Breland initially noticed that Garrison might have forged her name on a document when another defense attorney brought up a personal bond with her name on it that she hadn't signed. A handwriting analyst later found similar forged signatures in cases brought before Judge Kocurek and Judge Wisser, the affidavit says.
A witness who sought to get his boyfriend out of jail on a personal bond told a lieutenant with the district attorney's office that he saw Garrison forge a judge's signature in September 2006, according to the affidavits.
"I have one more ace up my sleeve," Bruce told the witness, according to the affidavits.
According the affidavits, the witness said, "We went to his house where he produced a second bond form ... and signed Julie Kocurek's name at the bottom of the form.... He told me,'I do this all the time.' "
Interviewed today, Wisser said, "I was dismayed but not surprised.
"Mr. Garrison has a drug problem," Wisser said, "And people with drug problems steal from their families, and their desperation will lead them to do anything."
If Garrison is convicted, he will likely be disbarred, Wisser said. The forgery charges are "just one problem in a continuing saga."

There is something in this country called the constitution which requires that all persons are innocent until proven guilty. It is unfortunate that without knowing all the facts people have already persecuted this person.

I'm one of the few people that Bruce Garrison screwed over. i think he should be disbarred and be given jail time. He needs to know that just because he is a lawyer he's not above the law.

n21 austin, I don't think you're the "few" people who got screwed over. I think you're one of MANY. People like you who have gotten improper services from him, especially you paid him money, should contact authorities. This guy thought you won't say anything because you're supposedly in tourble with law.

I am also a victim of this drama but let me tell you it goes alot deeper. Look up James Matthew Malone who is in Travis County Jail. The Austin Meth connection that is controlled by crooked law enforcement is the culprit.
They let convicted sex offenders loose with a new identity to do there dirty work. They run identity theft rings, stolen vehicle rings, money laundering,
and as we see have control over attorneys and others in government and
the justice system of Travis County. The FBI and Justice Departmant need to investigate this scandel it is organized crime at its finest. Its about time the RICO laws are applied to the real culprits. If any one in the media reads this please contact me or look in to this I can provide a stack of documents that would blow this mess open.

I had to fire Bruce because he wouldn't show up until 12 or 1pm for my court dates and he would reset only to do it over and over again. The first times were my fault, I didn't have what was left of what I owed him. The last 3 times I came with cash and just wanted him to finalize a deal that was already agreed to by the prosecutor but by the time he showed, no one was there to do the paper work. Bruce was a good guy. His selection of clients and his habit did him in. I hope he is on his way to getting his life back on track. For all you haters, he was a public servant in Dallas before his troubles down here, and while his actions are inexcusable, he did do some good.

From what I hear, he is now working at a treatment center trying to help other addicts. Maybe this won't be such a tragedy after all is said and done.

And by the way his legal assistant's name is Wendi Wade, she is a con artist along with her husband...Wendi and james Wade stole over 15,000 + from Bruce(if that makes you all feel any better)because like she said "he was to fucked up on drugs to notice". I agree with "join the community" there needs to be a serious investigation on this county.
