Unfortunately, I lived in the Austin area during this time and remember the horrible crime. Lopez was proven beyond reasonable doubt that he was and is guilty of murdering Cydney Myers. It seems that those of you that are related to Lopez would remember the details in a different light. THIS MONSTER DID THE CRIME AND SHOULD DO THE TIME. THE ENTIRE TIME.

Here you all are, bickering about what was or was not committed against this young victim. Her family and or her friends clearly read this blog. Has a jury of his peers found him guilty? That's an easy enough question. Yes or NO?
That being said, take a step back and put yourself in each other's shoes. Nobody wants to believe their loved one would do such horrible things to another human being. And nobody wants to re-live the monstrocities that happened to their loved one. She is dead, he was convicted. If you think he should stay in prison, send the letter. If you believe in clemency, write a different letter. But don't besmirch this dead woman's memory by bickering back and forth over what has been decided by our court system.

And since I'm up on this soap box....
DNA evidence can be mishandled, misinterpreted, and misused. Because semen stain # 1 does not match suspect #3, does not mean suspect #3 wasn't there and didn't commit the crime. It simply means that that stain did not match. If our jury system convicts on one piece of evidence, instead of the totality of the circumstances, well, I would hate to be the person who tossed out the piece of gum that lost flavor.

The above "quote" is an out and out lie. The results showed beyond a doubt that it was David Lopez.
The DNA was not used in the initial trial...but when it was. WOW...what a shock. David Lopez was the one.
Even after several people had seen Cydney and David driving carelessly down Guadalupe and picked her picture and his out of ten blonde women and 10 Hispanic men. I'm not going any further, but he didn't just spend all that time in jail after the DNA testing because they were bored and needed another prisoner. Don't be naive.
Only God, Cyd & David know the answers.

None of us knows all the facts. The police detectives and prosecutors say only what they think they need to. They were trying to solve the murder of my friend. They did lie directly to me, so I know that what they say happened is not necessarily what is really the truth. Cyd & David were my friends and only God, Cyd, and David know the truth. Nothing anyone can say on this forum can solve it now or then. Only when the person who did it goes to hell will anyone really pay for her death.

dear i know- i was there during the trail. this was the first texas case using dna. it just put him in a football stadium and didn't exclude him. i wanted to find cyd's killer. i was there, going thru it all..... i'm still not sure. the detectives and prosecutor lied to me, so i'm not sure he did it. only God, Cyd, and David knows the truth. When the killer dies and goes to hell, he'll pay.

All of us need to pay attention to what "you decide then act" has to say. He/She said it right. Re-read what was said and take heed to it.

I went to high school with Cyd and know for a fact that she was not killed at her home. She had gone to a place that was then called "The Still" and was killed after leaving there to go to her car. Make sure you know what you are talking about before you go accusing others of "getting the facts straight"! I miss her dearly!

my she rest in peace, correct me if Im wrong but she was killed at her home then transported in her car and left down town not killed in her car at all... so yeah lets get the facts straight, and Im with concerned person, the samples taken from Cydneywhen the crime happened did not match the person that has sat in prison for the last 22 yrs, so that means the real killer is still out there maybe you should be concerned with that fact....

Cyd was not killed at her home, in her car and she was not at "The Still" that night. She was found behind "The Still' The dna inside of her matched David Lopez's dna 99.99999%.
Where are you people getting your facts?

she deserved it, for having been named 'Cydney' seriously, is that pronounced like 'kidney'? cuz that would have been HILARIOUS!
