Everywhere I look I see more and more people recognizing the indisputable fact that the prohibition against cannabis is a complete failure. Its continued myopic prosecution by law enforcement is a symptom of insanity. Another noble experiment with unintended consequences. Cannabis prohibition has introduced more people to cannabis than if they had just left it alone and not said anything about it. I can almost hear Anslinger twirling in his grave. Serves him right!

It is definatly becoming more obvious that the law is the problem. The economics behind this plant are ridiculous. Here we have a state that is once again ahead of the nation on reforming unjust laws and that is causing people to take advantage of the situation for profit. If we as a nation were to take the position of California and decriminilize possession and then take it one step further and decriminilize cultivation for personal use then we would not see people from out of state growing huge plantations of weed. We would also see the cost of marijuana drop dramaticly! If we were all able to grow our own in the state we live in the degragation of California's and U.S. parks would stop. Wake up and realize the real problem here PROHIBITION!

I love the way they mention guns, like anyone ever pointed one at them....

Everyone has guns in Ca. its just too easy and when u live in the sticks their necessary.
Why would a grower ever even pic up a gun when the cops are there, Keith Faulder already has a real easy time getting them all off scott free. why throw a stone in his path....everyone knows this.

It would appear that sheriff Tom Allman's invitation to pot growers has reached the four corners of the world. I say we incarcerate all the pot growers and then we fire Tom Allman.

America has tried to incarcerate all marijuana growers/users for over 75 years. The results are more users, stronger drugs, higher prices and increased crime rates. Hasn't 75 years of trying a failed policy taught you anything? Ignorance is not a plausible defense for continueing this insanity. It's time to try something else.

Yes the problem in Mendocino is due to way to many pot growers. However, if there were more places that try to be fair like Mendicino county around the country, or world for that matter, northern California wouldn't be overrun. It is a shame that people are putting doubt into the California citizen minds if they made the right decisions. I believe that you all did, now it's time for the rest of us to catch up.

Time to end the madness of taxpayer-supported black market riches. Like the 21st amendment replaced the likes of Machine Gun Kelley and Al Capone with peaceful
Napa Valley and Busch Gardens.

Keeping cannabis illegal while tobacco and alcohol are dispensed freely is *MURDEROUSLY STUPID*.

Oh my god: this harvest season, while the pot growing political climate in MendoCo. is the most favorable it has ever been, can it be any more clear that the county has taken to seizures of property and cash in lieu of slumping tax income????

Before our resident Topix morons lurch and sputter their reflexive "you stoner's are all the same.." bovine fecal ramble- this is not pro or against.
It's just the damn truth.
Pot growers are greedy, right?(Topix morons, nod heads, drooling). The county board of supes are stepping up enforcement- at a time when county coffers are in the red and even schoolkids are paying in extra holidays- when even the sheriff has sanctioned growing as long as they get paid(zipties). You don't pay and you make the list.
What a sad state of affairs in MendoAmerica today.
(Topix drones pounding palms into forehead, agitated confusion. Some muttering "Illegal aliens, mexicans!" or "Soshalism state". Most madly trying and mostly failing to open childproof containers of prescription "meds".)

Look at the booking log from 11-4 (I believe) it's rediculous now we even have people from Alabama that were arrested for Marijuana in our county!!!!

This is soooo out of control but the "worst" is knowing it's us from California who has ruined the state and we keep inviting "ALL" these people from all over the states and other countries come to Mendo to grow or steal marijuana.

Medical my A**!!!!!!

Willits Watcher, you clever little creature you.
I see your plan.
Incarcerate all the growers and fire Allman...
Why?
Because you think you will be one of the only ones left outside of jail, and with Allman fired your empire of silly spite, envy, and undiagnosed psychological problems will reign supreme with you at the helm.
And it works...until the empty halls of topix forums becomes the prison inside your mind. With no vent for your bile, you whither away from madness and delusion like the wicked witch of the West. A green puddle all that remains.
And so the day came that the jails were opened, marijuana was legalized, and the citizens rejoiced in merry medical vapors- health benefits untold and new ones discovered every day. Allman returned to unite the county's hills with it's valleys while small happy latino children danced with joy around his carriage singing praise in their vibrant tounge. The eye of mordor, er. Watcher, could cast its evil pall no more.

I say legalize regulate and tax cannabis for adults. it's done wonders for the Dutch.

Dutch cannabis usage below EU average
Thursday 05 November 2009

Just 5.4% of the Dutch use marijuana or cannabis at least once a year, compared with 7% of Europeans as a whole, according to new EU research.

Italians are the biggest users of marijuana - 14.6% of Italians aged 15 to 64 took the drug in the year before the survey was carried out, the report by the EU's drug monitoring agency showed.

The Netherlands also has one of the lowest drug-related death rates in the EU - just eight per million, compared with almost 50 per million in the UK, the survey showed.

A spokesman for the drug addiction institute Trimbos told the Volkskrant the results of the survey show the Dutch policy of turning a blind eye to small scale soft drug usage had paid off.

Cocaine is the second most popular drug in Europe, apart from in the Netherlands where ecstasy is in second place.

However, the agency says the Netherlands is still one of the biggest producers of both ecstasy and amphetamines in Europe.
