How did polar dinosaurs survive months of cold and dark?
The evidence that dinosaurs braved the cold—and maybe scrunched through snow and slid on ice—challenges what scientists know about how the animals survived.

There was a crazy girl dinosaur named Britney that kept their minds of the cold.

There was just one big continent it didnt split off into the continents we have now until later the dinosaurs didnt live in antarctica cause it didnt exist yet.

They spent the winter months in Mallorca, drinking margueritas on the beach!

Research to date indicates that particular populations, Arctic, migrated. Polar conditions were much less harsh but still large animals like dinos needed to travel to much more hospitable climes. My experience in Arctic summer is that it is not inconceivable that these animal could graze or predate there. The variety and kinds of these animals was such that there was much adaptation within populations.

There might have been both bipolar and bi polar dinosaurs.

Given the types of vegitation found in antartica. It's not unreasonable to think that the axial tilt was less than 23 degrees at some point in the past. This would make for a much more moderate climate at the poles then, than there is now.

Dinosaurs never lived there. They never lived at all. The fossils were just planted by God to make sure it really takes true faith to believe in the Biblical fact that the Earth is only 6000 years old.
--- This and other irrational beliefs brought to by the Christian Church(es) |

Those gard damned snow lizards. Trudging through the snow and ice with no hair or fur. God really ballsed that lot up didn't he? ha ha ha

And of course repeated by people who believe it. |

Evidence of a world-wide, sudden, cataclismic, climate-altering flood is everywhere. To the sceptic that wrote that the fossil record would really make sure it takes faith to believe in the biblical account I would humbly suggest taking the biblical account of Genesis as a scientific thesis-hypothesis, and go out and investigate, experiment, collect data, and then make your conclusion. The fossil record in artic and polar areas in particular scream out "sudden climate change!" because we find frozen, complete animal life with frozen tropical vegetation not even fully digested in their stomachs; hair, teeth, skin, eyes, perfectly preserved. Elsewhere we find millions and millions of fossils, laid down in rock layers as evidence of a sudden, catastrophic event. God has judged this world with a world wide flood and he will judge it again. Not all the unbelief you can muster will be able to wish away the coming destruction. Physical death will not prevent you from facing the one on one jugdment appointment with the creator of the universe.

I donīt think anyone denies that the earth has seen catistrophic events in the past. But a flood created by god isnīt the only thing that could have caused such a catastophy. I respect your belief in the christian version of god, but please donīt bring it into every gdmn conversation you enter on this site. Dinosaurs living in polar regions doesnīt really have anything to do with your religious beliefs. Itīs much healthier to keep them seperate. Just my two cents. No actual cash value. |

To John Baake: I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the earth's tilt has been 23 degrees since the earth was formed. The earth's motion is like a wobbling top. It seems that the earth's climate was rather mild until the Chicxulub event, when an asteroid or other large body struck the earth about 65 million years ago. According to this hypothesis, the event brought about a disruption that continues to our time: ice age, thaw; ice age, thaw -- a cycle that has affected the evolution of living things ever since. That's the way it seems, anyway.
To Barnabas: There is not evidence of a worldwide flood. There is evidence that as the continents moved, over millions of years, there were bodies of water where there are none now. Some landscapes that were once sea-bottom contain fossils of sea-creatures. There are plenty of landscapes that were never under water, which contain fossils of land creatures. You true believers don't understand how science works. You want everything to proceed from Genesis, and are afraid that if you have any other idea, some fearsome higher power will punish you. Science assumes nothing, relies on investigation, correlates the data, and formulates theories which are tested to see if the results can be replicated. Modern biology is such a test, and it works; and that includes modern medicine. It proceeds straight from the theory of evolution. You believers resist scientific advances tooth and nail, until the benefits are too irresistible not to take advantage of; and then you claim that it's all the work of the fearsome higher power. This is the attitude that is killing science education in this country. You bully school boards and publishers of school books until they get tired of the constant harassment and dumb down science education to your level. Genesis was never meant to be taken word for word. It can't be. It was obviously written by different people at different times.(In Hebrew, it's very obvious.) The Bible-as-absolute-word procedure is the work of the Pharisees. You wanna be a Pharisee, pal? |

It's my understanding that Continental drift moved the Continents to their current positions AFTER the dinos died out... They never lived in Arctic conditions, because they never lived in the Arctic.

My research has shown, no not shown, has proven, that their mums knitted them sweaters.
