The late Thatcher said the logical and obvious truth to Bob Carr in the 1990s:

".....Australia could end up like Fiji "where the Indian migrants have taken over".....

".....Bob Carr was told (in the 1990s) that Australia would end up like Fiji if it continued to allow Asian migrants in...."I remember one thing she said as part of that conversation, she said:'You will end up like Fiji.'

..."She (Thatcher) said,'I like Sydney but you can't allow the migrants'- and in context she meant Asian migration -'to take over, otherwise you will end up like Fiji where the Indian migrants have taken over.'

...."She warned Australia....against Asian immigration, saying that if we allowed too much of it we'd see the natives of the land, the European settlers, overtaken by migrants," he added.

20 years later, one can see the increased frictions within the entire West as ancestral non-Europeans mass(!) immigrate into the First World.

It's true: The cities are full of Asians and they're leaking out into the country now too. I do not feel at home in my own country.

I frankly don't care if that's perceived as racist; I'm completely over it and want no more Asian, muslim or sub-continent immigration here.

Many Australians do feel this way - they just don't say so. And they know that indians and chinese and muslims are just as racist, if not more racist, than white Australians.

And no, the government is not doing anything right at all with respect to immigration. Both immigrants, illegals, and natives here know that this is all about money. It's a cynical stupid attempt to make the rich richer while fleecing the rest of us to death.

I don't ever forget that foreign students pay more than we do - and I think they shouldn't be allowed to come here and study at all. Because so many have come here to study and have paid for it educational standards have plummeted to new lows - and education has become a user-pay system with nothing to do with learning whatsoever. It's just used as a back door to immigration. Make no mistake, we ALL know it.

And if you knew what you were talking about you'd understand that the ostensible reason you pay more for the privilege of being here is because you've not paid taxes. I only thank god that it's no longer a back door to immigration and that indians, muslims and chinese understand that they really aren't welcome.

Fact... You are perfectly correct in not feeling at home in your inside your own country, as it is not your country to feel at home within.

Your European ancestors stole and raped it from a native people.

Highly hypocritical for any white Australian to whinge about the immigration of another race, as they themselves are the bloodline of immigrants, in actual fact it beggars belief that they have the brazen audacity to do so.

Blind idiotic pure racist morons!

I'm not surprised you agree with the late Baroness Thatcher on matters pertaining to Asian immigration. However Thatcher has a history of making somewhat unecessarily racist comments for somebody puporting to hold public office to represent all britons. I recall my father recounting her speech to the British parliament in 1965 where she advocated a halt to Indian immmigration.

Interesting, Elias.

Thatcher's chat to Carr is just a logical conclusion of an established culture being impinged upon by vast arrivals of another culture. Everyone knows if 400 million Euros, Africans, Indians and Arabs moved to China, dominant Han culture will be detrimentally affected. People would be upset. The country would be less culturally Chinese. This is actually a bad thing.

From my personal point of view, I am a culturalist. Not a racist. I'm all for 100% cultural assimilation into Euro-Western lands. However, this is obviously not happening. The West is being further divided within, socially weakened. Non-Western settlers are and have been arriving en mass for years to the First World. The diverse culture arrival is annually too high.

Having said that, you're a real Australian (of course). Probably more patriotic Australian than those with a European background (some of the unfortunate bigots on Topix. Even if I feel most racists on TopixOz are actually anti-Australian/anti-Westerner s). You are very proud of your ancestry, yet, a completely respectful of the UK/Euro/Western civilization that was firmly established. Well, you have said such.

I've also said in the past, that back in the States, I have numerous African-American, Asian-American friends who are 100% proudly American. They are 100% culturally in-sync with Western civilization, with US values. Most were even born in US.

Basically, the Fiji example was highlighted. So, this brings over-emphasis upon Indians in this thread. Unfortunate. However, it is an example of large-scale immigration creating a divisive, politically chaotic society that is Fiji today. People do generally stick to, and support their own + their own proud ancient cultures, through Earth's history.

However, I feel Thatcher (in the Aussie context) was really talking about the situation of dominant European/Western establishment being whittled away by large scale Asian immigration (from all of Asia, between Middle East to East Asia, and all between).

Anyway, Carr's recalled Thatcher comments have truth. Even if unpleasant. The entire West is well and truly being culturally threatened, or "swamped" (to quote your Pauline Hanson) while the vastly more populous, largely culturally intact (even with many problems) non-West suffers nothing so similar. One can foresee quite serious social strife, let's hope not civil conflicts or Balkanization in many Western regions in 2-3 decades. There's quite serious issues today in UK, France and other Western nations.

Thank you, I appreciate your thoughtful feedback.

Brushing aside the labels, the world is roughly divided socially into collectivist (asian, African, pacific and south american) and individualistic (largely western European but incorporating the post war southern and eastern European states).

The immigration of collectivist peoples into countries that are traditionally inidividualistic or western European will invariably cause upheveal to the bonds of social cohesion. Eminent Historian Geoffrey Blainey attmepted to articulate this in the late 1980s but lacked the ability to articulate this in a scientific manner pertaining to psychological and social distress (this was outside his area of expertise).

In places like Canada, Australia, US and UK there is a growing movement of older retired people moving away from the cities to regional areas. One of the commonest reasons you will hear is that they find urban cities are impersonal and they don't know their neighbors. They crave living in a village setting where they know the locals and feel like a local (get to gether for picnics, outings or a drink). I thinks it's code for lack of uncertainty over the changing demographics of their neighborhood from a predominatly white European to a multicultural population where the neighbors don't speak English, cook strange foods and don't know how to interact.
